Aug. 25th, 2002 04:02 pmToday, it's been a year since I posted chapter 10 of Surfeit of Curses.
I suck.
I've written about 25 pages - but it's barely 1/4 done. In the past year, I've written a chapter of Titanic Days for Eb's Trouble in Paradise universe, a chapter of Homage, a silly draco/harry ficlet for our Valentine's Challenge, cowritten a fic with Cassie for the AT Summer Challenge and have not finished my fanfic.
And why?
This.
I know it's a beloved site. And I just love the fact that we hit 10,000 users pretty much on the anniversary of my last chapter of SoC.
But I also hate it. I hate the fact that I don't have time to write. I swore I wouldn't get to this point - that I would finish before this year was up - and I've missed it. It isn't done and it can't be.
So I just have to go on. I have to finish it - perhaps when Simon is back and I can take 10 days off from FA, which I have never ever done. And if I do, I'll shut off LJ, turn off YM to everyone but my betas, and just write.
Of course, I'll turn on the music first.
I suck.

Date: 2002-08-25 02:26 pm (UTC)Am sorry Heidi. You and the other mods/admins have put so much into FictionAlley. It seems to be taking its toll on you, however, more than any other. I think your ten day break will be very good for you, and I shall be waiting for more of SoC patiently :) But before you work on that, perhaps you should take a bit of time off for youself.
Hope everything works out!
*hugs again*

Date: 2002-08-25 10:04 pm (UTC)Honestly, you *deserve* the days off you *have* to take. Not just for SoC but for everything.
Good luck with the writing! *hugs*

Date: 2002-08-26 10:01 pm (UTC)I really admire the fact that you've managed to spend so much time and money on a site that isn't a commercial site and whose users don't pay for it. You've created the site for us, and if you think you need a break, you probably need a break. It has to be very difficult when people don't appreciate your work, (not naming any names or anything). I'm sure that FA will function for ten days without you. :) And you'll be all refreshed!
Just my opinion but is you spend so much time working on FA that you might get sick of it. Take a ten days off, write more on SoC, or even just take a break from the fandom all together. You deserve it.
As Debbie said, everyone else has, why don't you (ok perhaps that wasn't exactly what she said but close enough!). :)
