I wish the quotes were visible on more than just the main Park page, as I never go there.... :( I just hop around directly to the boards I mod (I got the impression it cost less for you guys that way, than to load the full Park board listing).
I feared that massive reloading would happen when you implemented the quotes. I thought, "Ugh, this will not be good for the already overtaxed server." It is a great idea, though, and I hope it is here to stay. Perhaps offering a page where people can look through the quotes might be helpful.
[dons techie hat] Just wanted to add that technically speaking, it might not be too difficult to add a link under the quote that says something like "More quotes". Clicking this link would open up a small sandbox browser window (a window with no nav bars, just an empty standalone window like a popup, just in case you don't know what I am talking about).
This popup window could be populated with a simple SQL query of your database where the quotes are held. This would be displayed a quote at a time (or however many you wanted) into the window. You could put a forward and backward button on it so people could look through the quotes at their leisure without taxing your server as much.
Just an idea I thought I'd share. People could even keep this up while they were working and needed a break if you coded it to be like that... I think a new template would be all that it might take, in addition to adding the link to the quote popup on the two pages where quotes are currently displayed.
[dons consulting disclaimer hat]Of course, please take this with a grain of salt, I am not familiar with the in's and out's of your infrastructure, just that you are using vBulletin, and PHP with a mySQL database (at least I think that's what you are using, since it is vBulletin). Am going to bed now because I am getting too darned wordy ;)
Paul and I have actually been playing over the past 3 days with different places to put the quotes and different ways to make them load without "reloading", as it were. We should have a newer setup later this week.
