More new things on FictionAlley

heidiI have a feeling we're going to start having Big Announcement Wednesdays, given what we've got planned to announce over the next month...
For this week...
FictionAlley is thrilled to announce a new way for readers (and authors) to get involved with fanfic!
As of June, we're going to bring a pack of Nifflers (those little creatures from GoF who find glittery things) to pick a few fics each month - things that might've been overlooked when they were first uploaded - and recommend them to the FictionAlley audience - actually, to the whole fandom.
All you have to do, if you want to be a Niffler, is send an email to niffler@schnoogle.com with the following information:
vBulletin User Name: (you must be a registered user of FA, but you can register now here)
Email address:
Review of a multichaptered story that is archived on FA (where the first chapter was uploaded no later than March 31, 2002):
Review of a one-shot story that is archived on FA: (where the fic was uploaded no later than April 15, 2002).
(note: we're asking people to review things on FA now simply because we need to be vaguely familiar with the stories that are being reviewed, to make sure that the people who are picked to be Nifflers are able to write a reasonably good review - but those who are selected to be Nifflers can Recommend fics hosted on any site online)
Notes (for both the application and the Niffler Program):
A. Each review must be between 100 and 300 words, and must contain proper grammar and spelling.
B. You cannot review a fic that you beta-read or wrote.
How will we pick Nifflers?
We're looking for people who point out the good things in a story - these are recommendations after all - but who don't shy away from offering constructive criticism if necessary. However, we're not looking for counter-recommendations.
We're looking for people who use good grammar and correct spelling (especially for character names) - both are necessary!
What will the Nifflers actually do?
Each month, each Niffler will submit at least four recommendations (all at once or one a week). The recommendations will be fics that the Niffler thinks are good reads. Each recommendation will be between 100 and 300 words and not violate the terms of use. Nifflers can recommend any Harry Potter fanfic (except NC-17 ones), whether it's on FictionAlley or on another site - no matter how old it is.

Date: 2002-05-25 03:50 pm (UTC)Just to be akward, is there [i]any[/i] possiblity that you could include NC-17s in the recommendations? It just seems a shame that there's so many great fics out there that don't get seen. I don't know how the rules work, but isn't it OK if the stories are hosted on another site?
Sorry to go on about the NC-17 issue, but it just seems a shame. Good luck with the changes!
