Managed to get a DL of Show at around 11ish and watch it and I am so glad I did because I couldn't go to sleep without having seen it.

I honestly think it's a disservice to those two characters to just add them to a list of female characters who've died on the show. (If there is wank or whatever, please do not bring it here to my LJ!) That was two HUNTERS who died. Two hunters who knew the costs of their jobs, risked all of it to save other hunters, other strangers, and hopefully the WORLD. Jo took that fatal hit while saving Dean's life. Ellen made the ultimate sacrifice both for her daughter and to make sure the bomb WORKED. They were fucking BADASS and that they were female characters written with that kind of strength makes me really damn PROUD of this show right now. This show is nothing if not serious about the toll of life as a hunter, and I think they did right by these two. ... I will miss them, and their goodbye scene with each other may be one of those I cannot watch again. And that's saying something for me. I'm that emotional about it, that I kind of need to protect myself from it for now.

I had to pause the show during the explosion so I could cry for a few minutes. I don't think I've been that weepy at an episode since AHBL I/II - no, not even when Dean died! - and Alona and Samantha were just fantastic in how they played the scene. And I wonder if Kripke giving them an ending that more or less matches what many people have hypothesized for Sam and Dean is a way for him to make it clear that this is what can happen to hunters, who make a decision to help the world, to be so selfless.

I would love love love, btw, a comic series - even if it's just 6 issues - or a novelization, showcasing some of Jo and Ellen's adventures over the last two or so years. It would be totally kick-ass and fantastic, and yes we could do it in fandom, but it would be amazing if they decided to do it in actual tie-ins.

Loved and adored Crowley and am utterly convinced that he'll be back! And I am glad that in reading others' comments, I'm not the only one convinced that the 'crossroads' as a freeway put others in the mind of
Many phenomena — wars, plagues, sudden audits — have been advanced as evidence for the hidden hand of Satan in the affairs of Man, but whenever students of demonology get together the M25 London orbital motorway is generally agreed to be among the top contenders for Exhibit A.

Very few people on the face of the planet know that the very shape of the M25 forms the sigil *odegra* in the language of the Black Priesthood of Ancient Mu, and means 'Hail the Great Beast, Devourer of Worlds'.

And of course, I now absolutely ship Castiel/Meg, Castiel/Crowley and Castiel/Ellen.

Dean breaking down while on the CB with Bobby was spot-on and appropriate because Bobby provides that little zone of safety where he can still be Not In Charge - and I wonder if the Dean we saw in 5.04 would have been the de facto leader if Bobby had still been around - did he step up when Bobby died?

Sigh for Bobby burning the photo - but there is still a negative (it wasn't a digital camera, was it?) out there. And I would love a coda where Sam or Dean steals it away and makes copies, perhaps puts one into the glove compartment of the Impala. (Speaking of Impalas, Castiel's description of the car to Lucifer was adorable, and I think one of my reasons for shipping Castiel/Ellen was because he went in their car, not with the Winchesters.)

A few questions, though:

1. Did the ending feel a little abrupt to anyone? Still not sure how sam and dean even got *out* of carthage - did Castiel zap them out? What's up with the car? I feel like I missed some content... I feel like the ep could have ended well in the woods, with the digging and the almost messianic positioning of Lucifer's arms.

2. Why did Lucifer need the men of the town anyway?

3. Does anyone still watch Heroes? I briefly wished Lucifer could utilize some Sullivan earth-moving powers instead of having to do all the digging. But Mark is playing the role fantastically.

4. WHAT is going to happen in Detroit?

5. January? We have to wait until January? GAH, WHY?
