We're flying home on Virgin tomorrow mid-day-ish, and I am looking forward to spending multiple weeks in a row in the same place, because that hasn't happened yet this year. Our room overlooks the runway so the kids are switching between watching The Squeakquel (again) and airplanes landing. And the hotel has good cookies.

Haven't watched Doctor Who yet, but I saw a nifty billboard from the 10 on our way to Santa Monica for dinner, and I'm downloading it to watch on the plane tomorrow.

Haven't gotten an iPad yet, as I am waiting for the 3g, but I'm enjoying all the reviews and the squee on my fist and on twitter. Patience, patience!

Was thinking during the drive back to LA today about

I haven't read all the reaction posts yet, but I was struck by the similarities between joshua's statement that God wants them to back off, and John's call to the boys in Scarecrow back in S1 where he tells them to stop looking for him and sends them on another hunt.

...I know this is hard for you to understand, you're gonna have to trust me on this... stop looking for me... I’'ve given you an order. Now you stop following me and you do your job, you understand me?

No, what Joshua said wasn't exactly the same as what John said but it definitely has similar language and a similar undercurrent. Of course, back after Scarecrow, the boys didn't completely stop trying to find John - but it was another 4-5 episodes before they actually reconnected with him. But they did reconnect and team up and do amazing things together. So just because someone tells the Winchester brothers not to look for the most important guy in the world, it doesn't mean they won't look for him and find him and convince him to help them out because they work better as a team.

Also, re the recent episode, are there any fics about how Dean earned the money for all those fireworks?

Also, soulmates!

Yes. I just couldn't remember the episode, so thank you, but DEFINITELY I thought the same thing. The boys were being given a firm boot in the butt, IMHO, to stop looking for God, stop looking for Him to "fix" everything, and to stay away and tend to their own hunt, because He's got other fish to fry.

I don't think God is uninterested. I just think He's going at this some other way. And I think Sam and Dean really do still have a job to do, they just ... aren't having much luck at finding out what, let alone how or with what tools, so that part sucks immensely ... *sighhh*

Like you, I'm waiting for the 3G version of the iPad before I decide whether or not to take the plunge. But I saw someone using one yesterday on the Las Vegas Monorail and suffered major gadget envy.

I'm busy trying to re-watch the last 4 seasons of DW before the new ep airs on BBC America. I don't think I'm gonna make it....

Oooh interesting. I like the parallels with the two "fathers" as it were.
