January: Happy New Year! am far tipsier than typing indicates.
I think I need a food icon that's more than just cupcakes, or Jensen With Popcorn, because while I don't have gourmet meals all that often, when I do I want to write about them.

February: Out, out, damned gallbladder! But not today.

March: Have I really been more or less off LJ for a week? I'm basically better, post-surgery, and busy with RL work (yay, new clients!) and with a massive project editing a video for my parents' 40th Anniversary, which is this weekend. (Wow, March 5! That was late for a first post of the month!)

April: Show! I would probably quote everything everyone else has said. Except I should go to sleep, so this is mostly a placeholder so I can come back and OMGOMG about the meta and the laundry and the fandom shout-outs and the slash and OMG was this the first time the concept has been mentioned in a network (well, a small network) tv show?

May:
There is something very nifty and karmic about picking the Star Wars-inspired [info]spn_j2_bigbang prompt on 5/4 since, of course, there's two nifty things about today's date:
1. Add the month and day to get the year; and
2. MAY THE FOURTH BE WITH YOU!

June: In the last two weeks I have learned [skip Azkatraz prologue] 1. When taking kids to a kids-camp thing on a cruise ship put their names on their shoes - they might get taken by another kid who's about the same size late on the first night but you'll have an easier time claiming they're yours the next day at the pool.

July: I haven't made an actual post since about five minutes before they confirmed that Michael Jackson had died! Which means I haven't joked about Sarah Palin - and I'd recently been wondering if I shouldn't get rid of my "We Have a Problem With Her" icon and now the answer is absolutely no, never.

August: Text stolen from [personal profile] kerryblaze: There really is never any easy way to say this. Sometime during the night, [personal profile] simons_flower passed away. [personal profile] tqpannie has more information here.

September: I get in[to Atlanta] on Thursday, either at 11:30 or 2:30, depending on which flight I am on. Anyone getting in at either of those times, please make sure I have your cell in case we can share a cab to the hotel.

October: SHOW! First, a question re last week's episode. I've asked before but it was behind a cut so maybe it was missed? But I am very, very desperate for an icon (ideally animated) from SPN 5.03 of Dean saying, 'Dayenu!' I know Passover is still about six months away, but I believe in planning ahead.

November: Anyone else doing NaBloPoMo (National Blog Posting Month)? I realized a few weeks back that I've been tweeting more than actually posting, and I want to try and rectify that.

December: How is it December already? Seriously, how?

Now the Year End meme:

1. What did you do in 2009 that you'd never done before?
Went to a funeral for one of my husband's grandparents. Had my gallbladder out. Broke my baby toe and once that recovered, cracked my coxyx on Wrock Around the Rock. Interviewed Misha Collins and David Tennant (among others). Blithered in front of said Ten in a hotel bar. Toured a tv set. Hung out with Greg Grunberg and Adrian Pasdar. Looked into junior high schools for my son. Sent flowers to a good friend's memorial service. Wrocked Around the Rock. There must be more, but that's what's coing to mind.

2. Did you keep your new year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I dropped about 30 pounds, but I wanted to drop 20 or so more. Will do next year.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
No, nobody particularly close did this year.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
Far too many people. [personal profile] simons_flower, Aaron's grandma Bea, Aaron's grandfather Herb and Eric Bowling.

5. What countries did you visit?
The Bahamas for two days in May.

6. What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009?
Fewer people I love dying and fewer broken bones and hospitalizations for me. If I have that then other things, like dropping those 20 pounds and having time to both go to the gym *and* vid, will be lovely ancillary things.

7. What date from 2009 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
July 16 - 27 - Azkatraz and Comic Con. An amazing two-week amalgamation of hard work, fun, delicious drinks, new and old friends, lovely hotels and delicious food.

8. What was your biggest achievement of this year?
Probably Azkatraz.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Breaking my toe and my coxyx, probably. Painful and pathetic.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Acute Pancreatitis caused by gallstones, leading to removal of my gall bladder. Groin pull resulting from surgery. Broken toe and a broken coxyx. I was a mess through the summer.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
Airplane tickets to California, North Carolina, Atlanta and NYC because it brought me to places I could hang out with friends. In terms of material things, my complete set of Beatles songs on an apple shaped USB was pretty fantastic.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
I still believe in Barack Obama. And that of all my friends and family, especially in the terrible and trying moments we've all had this year.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Vice President Dick, who in 2007 allowed the release of two people from Gitmo to Saudi Arabian "art therapy", from which they went on to help organize that bomb-setup on Christmas Day. Also, Sarah Palin for quitting like a quitter.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Home, car, kids, cellphone.

15. What did you get really, really excited about?
The Inauguration, which I watched with my son's class of 4th graders. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Dinner at Bazaar in Los Angeles.

16. What songs will always remind you of 2009?
Obviously, The United States of Pop. The GLEE soundtracks, Poker Face, Waking Up in Vegas and Jason Mraz's I'm Yours.

17. Compared to this time last year,
i. are you happier or sadder? A week ago I was probably happier, but with Eric's death this week, I'm a lot sadder right now than I was a year ago, when everything was shiny and optimistic.
ii. thinner or fatter? Thinner! Go me!
iii. richer or poorer? slightly richer. In part because I did a ridiculous amount of work for a client to close on something this month.
iv. older or wiser? Both. And 54 weeks away from forty. OMG

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Nothing, really. I did as much as I could with and for everyone I care about in the time I've had allotted to me this year.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Broken bones. I mean, really.

20. How will you be spending New Years Eve?
Dinner with friends on South Beach. Shiny!

21. Did you fall in love in 2009?
Every day, with the same guy and the same three kids.

22. How many one-night stands?
None. Ridiculous.

23. What was your favorite TV program?
GLEE. I love Show, I really do. And I loved each ep of Doctor Who and there were wonderful hours spent with Leverage and White Collar. But Glee is just delightful, and has reintroduced me to radio pop.

24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
No. There isn't enough time in the day or the year for hatret.

25. What was the best book you read?
The Magicians.

26. What was your greatest musical discovery?
GLEE! Um. Does that count?

27. What did you want and get?
A terrific fortnight with friends in California.

28. What did you want and not get?
An apple tablet.

29. What was your favorite film of this year?
Up! I adored it so much, and have rewatched it a silly number of times on my ipod and the tv. I also adored Inglorius Bastards.

30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned 38 and spent the day with my family at Disney World, then went on a fireworks cruise with friends on Bay Lake to watch Wishes. It was cold and wonderful.

31. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Other than fewer deaths, of family, friends and notable people? The chance to see more movies.

32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008?
Size. Twelve. Jeans. Also, a size ten Tocca dress. SQUEE!

33. What kept you sane?
GLEE. Friends. Pink things. Going to the gym with my ipod stocked with Glee and Jason Manns and Adam Lambert and Kris Allen and the Scissor Sisters and a stack of magazines and not getting off for an hour.

34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
David Tennant! He makes me flail and I cannot wait for his new US series, Rex Is Not Your Lawyer!

35. What political issue stirred you the most?
Nothing stirred me specifically - just the general focus on supporting much of the president's agenda and hoping to help nudge him slightly more left-ward on things like gay rights, anti-torture matters and tourism to Cuba.

36. Who did you miss?
Herb and Bea.

37. Who was the best new person you met?
Oh, so many wonderful new people on the flist, and Stephanie Falcos who helped me SO much before and throughout Azkatraz.
Also, technically, David Tennant, Misha Collins, Adrian Pasdar, Greg Grunberg, Jack Coleman and someone who will be returning to Heroes but who I can't mention publicly yet, but who is just amazing.

38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2009.
If you have to step away from a chat window because your kids' friends come over, come back and tell the person you were talking to, because you may never be able to talk to them again.

39. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
It's not from a song - but it's from a song intro.
We have chosen a selection of songs that speaks to the nation as a whole during these troubling times filled with economic uncertainty and unbridled social woe, because if there's two things America needs right now that is sunshine and optimism and..... Also angels!

Stay safe, everyone, into 2010 and beyond.

Yes, I did. They start Junior High in 6th grade here, and that's one. semester. away. And Catie starts kindergarten in the fall. Well, summer. But pseudo-fall.

Hugs and happy new year to all of you!

Yes, middle school is 6-8 here, too. It's more that I'm appalled Harry is that old already!!

There isn't a middle school his elementary school automatically feeds into?
