Vid Rec of the Week

As you may've seen from my twitters yesterday, I finally got to see Star Trek last night (and arrived home in time for SPN, which was brilliant planning on my part, la!) and I liked it, I really did. I had major questions about whether I'd be able to watch someone else in a part that I really think should have gone to Jensen Ackles (can you *imagine* the fandom-goes-BOOM reaction had that happened?) but while I now think Jensen would have been phenomenal as Kirk, Chris Pine is just that smidge younger, so I can handwave that a little bit and be okay with it.

My husband loved it, but it wasn't until this afternoon, when I saw this vid by talitha78, that my like turned into OMGLOVE!!!!1111!!! It's a Kirk/Spock set to Lady Gaga's Poker Face, and it is brilliant. Her editing, her use of rhythm and movement - and the perfection of the song itself - all made for a truly remarkable work. If you've seen the film, definitely check the vid out, regardless of what you think of classic Kirk/Spock.

That was great! I think it's a great example of why slash fans should see the new Trek.

Also, I saw the movie the day after 4x21 aired, and I ended up mentally substituting Jensen as Kirk through most of the movie. Not that I have a problem with Chris Pine or anything -- I liked what he did with the role -- but my brain had its own ideas.

Thanks for the link!! That video was really well done. I loved the moments when Kirk/Spock would spin into each other. They were timed so well with the music!

You are the first person I've heard suggesting Jensen for Kirk and I do have some SPN fans on my flist! Huh, I'd have never thought of him, honestly! Chris Pine was so amazing though, I really can't imagine anyone else at this point.
