Next episode airs on my BIRTHDAY! Hurrah for birthdays!
First, the Reveal at the end. In a way the information itself felt a bit flat although not in any way because of Jensen's amazing sell of that scene, because he was omg phenomenal. But it's information - or an answer - that a lot of us had basically already guessed.
Then I thought about it for a moment, and it felt a lot like the Reveal, at about the same time in S2, of "save Sammy, or kill him", which, as I understand it* a lot of people had already guessed was what John whispered to Dean to send him off the rails so far.
The information is just that - information. But the impact of that knowledge/memory on Dean - both times - is what's truly magnificent about it because it's shaped the person he is right now, and what I also found fascinating is that God wanted him back on earth even after whatever he did in hell.
Oh, and I am curious if Bella was offered a chance to get off the rack to torture Dean and that was her Sell and I would love to see fic about that because it could be phenomenal. I do hope they eventually come across Demon!Bella.
Meg, too - she must have helped Alistair a bit.
And I hope they run into Anna again. If there's going to be a Big Battle, either this season or next, why wouldn't she be there?
I did appreciate the shagging scene in the car - it's obvious that Dean knows well how to situate the back seat for maximum shagging comfort. And I am weird enough to love the fact that yet again, the deus ex machina actually is deus-generated.
What made me vaguely miserable involves Anna's parents - they were killed because she chose that particular woman to be born to, back in 1985 - and that's pretty high up there on the scale of random unfairness. The poor town - a deacon and his wife are murdered in their home and the church is smashed up and the window destroyed and a pediatrician goes missing - can you imagine the panic and wild rumors in the aftermath?
Now that the first half of the season is over, it's time for me to catch up on some vids owed. Hope to finish the ones for charity by Thanksgiving (or at the latest, the first week of December) and then we get to the annual Jensen Is Pretty vid. I even have the perfect song...
The way Ruby was cut during that torture scene (which, btw I could hardly watch) is in the same place that both Mary and Jessica were cut - basically across the top of where the uterus is. I don't know if it was done to make the deliberate parallel, but it paralleled it for me.
I also have slightly odd thoughts about Anna now being pregnant with Dean's baby and the impact of a pregnant angel on heaven, but I may wibble about it in fic form...
