That's Dr Benton in the comic. I won't be spoilery for what John does to
him (vaguely mentioned in 3.15) but on 11/24/83, John's journal entry is
that "legend has it ... [Benton] at the precise moment of his death,
ripped open the chest of an innocent and ingested the stolen,
still-throbbing heart to thwart his own entry into the afterlife." It
also says that each organ theft makes him stronger.
