I'm going to sign up to do the Disney half-marathon next January, and as a vidder for this year's [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_bigbang. Holy commitments, Batman! Then, and only then, am I allowed to catch up on the last day and a half of LJ.

I'm in San Diego at the moment (flight yesterday was terrific, and I will never understand why Aaron's relatives insist on flying into San Diego when it always requires changing planes while coming from Maine or Miami, when flying into LA takes maybe a half hour more to get to his parents' house, including driving-time, but whatever...)

We are possibly going to Disney Land on Wednesday. Aaron wants to take me out for dinner for my birthday that night - what do those of you who go there regularly recommend? We were thinking the Wine-Trattoria, but the Mexican place at Downtown Disney looks good, too. Or is there something at one of the hotels? Anything similar to the California Grill at the Contemporary?

And for those of you who've been following the Apple teaser-posters, what do you think they're going to do? I saw a (whimsical) suggestion of anti-gravity ipods, but I'm hoping for a micro-laptop that feels lighter than air. The LA Times had an article about a shrine to ancient computers located up in Seattle. It looks fantastic - I really need to find a chance to make a pilgrimages to some Museum of Old Technology someday, because it's all just adorable. I also should probably have my artist-aunt make a display thing for my circa 1994 Newton, so I can put it in the living room, properly enshrined.

ETA: Okay, before I play catch-up, I checked [livejournal.com profile] spn_holidays first thing, as I've been doing for the last few weeks, to see if something was posted for me, and OH WOW, it was! Here is the gorgeous first section of a Harry Potter/Supernatural/Torchwood crossover from [livejournal.com profile] gestaltrose and I am over the moon with adoration for it! Squeethanks, this is the best way to start my birthday week!

ETA 2: Sweet Charity signup has been edited, because the amazing [livejournal.com profile] lithium_doll has added Chuck to the fandoms listed!

The half-marathon?! That's awesome. I have friends signing up for that, so maybe I'll see you there. :) (I am not running, myself. I am a very bad runner.)

Since I don't know if you'll be checking LJ tomorrow, while you're on your trip, I'll wish you a very happy birthday today. Hope you find a fab place to eat, having lots of fun in D-Land, and have a generally wonderful day! (I don't remember a thing about Places to Eat at Disneyland, and they've probably all changed anyway. Blue Bayou is fun for the Louisiana feel at night, and you get to watch PotC-riders float by. :D But it's very "family", not fancy.)

Also, go you for the half-marathon! I didn't know you ran.

Thank you for the sweet wishes!

And I don't "run", per se, but I can walk at 4.2 miles an hour - so far only for 6-ish miles straight, but I'm working up! - which is enough to get through it. So, yeah. Giving it a try.

I can't actually run, but I can walk damned fast, so I'm giving it a try...

I love that the finale for it is through Epcot - what a great way to finish it, running past places you love.

On the Apple rumour sites I frequent, it seems to be generally accepted that there will be a new laptop called "MacBook Air," including apparent log sightings of someone browsing the web on a pre-production model. What specs exactly that will entail (my money is on ultra-portable with no cd-drive and possibly a flash-hdd and I wish for a tablet-style hybrid with multi-touch screen instead of pen) and if that's the only thing meant by those posters is not yet certain, though.

I might be able to meet up with you during the day at Disney, if you wanted. :) I need to be up in Burbank by 6 (so I'd leave Disney around 3:30 to be safe), but depending on how early you want to start, I could feasibly spend a few hours there. :)

I like the Mexican restaurant in downtown Disney. It is cheaper than the Jazz kitchen, and has some tasty entress. Everyone always raves about their margaritas, but I found them to be on the small side.

There aren't really a lot of really good restaurants at DL resort when compared to WDW in my opinion. Tortilla Jo's is tasty, but nothing special. We tend to congregate there because there are margaritas present, although I do agree with [livejournal.com profile] airemay that they're rather small.

And yay for you signing up to do the half-marathon!

I'm not sure what time we're going to get there on Wednesday - we're going to see Aaron's grandfather first thing in the morning, but we may not be able to get to Aneheim until noonish - if you want to join us Thursday, though, we'll be doing the parks from 9 AM (since we're at one of the hotels) until 4ish...

Thursday's better for me, I think. :)

I can plan to be there about 10/10:30ish (to avoid the worst of the morning traffic and allow time to park).

Oooh, the half-marathon! Go you!

I think about signing up every now and then, and then I remember that my knees and back will likely not be able to handle that much pounding.

And have a happy birthday tomorrow!

The Mexican place in Downtown Disney is good, but nothing special. I can't speak about any of the restaurants in the hotels. If you're going to be IN the Magic Kingdom, go to Blue Bayou. I LOVE it but haven't been for years. But it's just awesome and I love that you can see the Pirates boats going by... but that could be just me.

*hugs* Hope we manage to see one another!
