It is hard for me to be coherent right now, partially because I am omgflail over Show (and Dean's awesomeness as a big brother and Sam's awesomeness as a little brother and their awesomeness as a *team*) but also because I have a fever near 100 degrees, and my fic-that-isn't-for-
So I'm just going to bullet point the bits of utter awesomeness and direct y'all to
* The flashback bits were really perfectly done. I like the new ickle!Sam and ickle!Dean is more awesome than awesome could ever be. And I hope the amulet us useful in either Saving Dean from Hell, or Helping Sam Get In, Find Him & Get Him Out (also see Orpheus)
* The Sweeney Todd bit was a little ugh-ish - I don't think I've covered my eyes so much during an ep since Black Rock and the, er, skewer bit. Why do I feel like meshing those scenes with the new movie and sending Sam and Dean to hunt Johnny Depp? Sort of.
* Wish Jensen had sung that carol a bit closer to the way he really sings, which is much prettier. Alas. Also, that wasn't Andy's bong, was it? Sigh. I miss Andy.
* coherent comment: why were cookies out if it wasn't Xmas Eve yet?
* I'm not sure if they meshed this to the comics, or meshed the comics to this, but the flashback bit in this ep did dovetail with the comics and John (and Dean) not telling Sam the truth about Mary and Scary Stuff. But it's interesting to trace this flashback-time and Sam's loss of innocence through the next year, when John gives him a gun to deal with the thing in his closet. I'm curious enough in the transition that I might fic with it but I'd love to see what others do with it, too.
* I guess Sam's blood is human enough? And Ruby's not tracking him so closely to save him here, which I'm pretty glad about because it would have ruined the.... oh, let's just call it the Boys Bonding moment.
* Dean called the Impala "Baby"! I love when he does that!
* The lighting in this ep was gorgeous. I love coloured lights and the lights on the impala with the snow falling? Beautiful.
* Boys getting drunk together is always FTW. And the emo-eyes were such a plus. (I have to admit, I don't normally see anything-beyond-brotherhood in the content of the eps, at least not this season; this episode, though? Er, yes. I saw it.)
Alas, time for Benadryl and tylenol.
