Wired looks at Video Games involving Rock Music, and I am fondly reminded of Journey: Escape.

Who else remembers that? And on the non-rockstar side of games, does anyone know of a Joust emulator?

Oh, and speaking of video games, my 8 year old played Tetris for the first time today. Bwahahaha.

Joust works for me in MAME, though I was using v0.111 rather than the latest version (v0.120, though it should still work here).

1) Download MAME from its site and unzip it,
2) download the Joust ROM from a site like here, assuming you have a legal reason to own the ROM such as owning the actual arcade machine itself, cough cough,
3) put the joust.zip that you just downloaded as is (without unzipping) into the MAME\ROMS subdirectory,
4) open up a command prompt (!!)
5) if required, cd to the MAME directory where you unzipped MAME, and
6) mame joust should get you going.

There's one more tricky bit; as Joust is an old Williams game, once MAME shows you two screens of coloured pixels and then says "initial checks indicate all systems go", you probably need to press F2 (? maybe F1?) to get it to advance from there to the main attract mode. The keys that work for me, and possibly also you, are 5 to enter a credit, 1 to start and control to start flapping, but all these can be redefined.

If you want to skip the MAME emulater - it can be a bit tricky to setup, though it is TONS of fun--Midway has an online Classic Games section here, including Joust. (Though not Joust 2. SAD.)

Why'd you strike "fondly"? True, it should've been a more reverent phrase like, well, "reverently" or "worshipfully" or "devotionally". Something like that.

I remember hearing of the Escape game. I was a big fan of Journey and I avoided the game for fear of suckage. I see I was wise to avoid it.
