There are so totaly demons in South Beach! Come down here and I will give you a guided tour! And mojitos!

This was a very thinky episode (with some amazing one-liners (not limited to the bartender calling Sam "princess" and the "priest" making some subtle innuendos)) but I loved Dean having *hus* turn to talk to a demon, the fact that we got an actual confirmaton-of-name for Yellow Eyes (huzzah for reducing euphamisms in fic-writing, whatever the reason), and I still firmly believe that Ruby is the editor of or a reporter at The Demonic Newsletter. Demonic-gal-of-the-week - assuming she wasn't lying - gave a lot of backstory and plot-development info, and I like how she tried to save Dean and how he tried to stop Sam from killing her, even if it wasn't a fully conscious decision on his part - and I really hope there's some coda-fic with him angsting about that!

And I love how we got some foreshadowing (I assume! I am unspoiled!) for Sam having to get his hands dirty, helping Ruby to save Dean - but other than the idea of her as some Fallen Lois Lane, I'm still completely unable to suss out a motivation, so I'll stick with the reporter possibility.

ETA: ooooh, [livejournal.com profile] limmenel has a better theory!

One last thing, though - Dean, honey? You need to memorize that exorcism ritual. And put it on your cellphone. And stitch it into each jacket. Hey, it can't hurt!

Ooooh, and that would be another good coda-fic - Sam getting Dean to finally memorize it, and have other ways to access it.

And did the Sam-outside-the-office bit feel very Dean Forrester-ish to anyone but me?

There was this Jensen-interview (warning - some small spoilers!) in tvguide-online this week, and his comments about SHOW and the utter lack of marketing are so spot-on. I remember a few years ago, a couple years into a series the leads sometimes also got Producer credits, either as a signing-incentive or a salary-even-er. If this were any other show, Jensen and Jared would probably have the title at this point. Stupid CW.

My completely unspoiled theory, after this episode? Demon bartender talked about being willing to follow Sam. What if Ruby is setting herself up to do so? If she's banking on the idea that Sam will eventually lead them, she's setting herself up as his right hand. Also, if she's going to be nudging him into darker territory - ostensibly to help Dean - she could also be dragging him closer to being the demon prince he was meant to be.

I'm liking the theory that was posted that Ruby is jockeying Sam into leader position but the only flaw that I can see with that is I don't think that Ruby would help Bobby to create more bullets for the Colt. Why give Bobby or Sam or Dean the only tool that could kill you? Why take the risk? This is a deamon that we're talking about though. They don't really have any loyality to anyone or anything just personal gain. The enemy of my enemy is my friend and all that. Maybe there was a coup against her in hell or something. Either way I'm really liking the season so far.

Couple things from last nights epi:
LOVED Dean not knowing the words to the exorsism
LOVED Sam throwing holy water on everyone.
LOVED Sam and Dean giving Bobby hard time.
LOVED the fact that there are now going to be more bullets for the Colt.
