Locked for bitchiness.

Dear Random Writer:

If the fic does not progress beyond kissing?

You don't have to warn for *underage* if one of the participants is 14.

You don't have to warn for *underage* if one of the participants is seven.

Ah, warnings, you amuse me so.

Which one have you read recently that made you *headdesk*?

I always ::headdesk:: when people warn for homosexual activity on a comm dedicated (in the name, even!) to a homosexual pairing. Fine to warn for explicitness, but if I'm reading a fic in [livejournal.com profile] remusxsirius, I expect it to contain SOME homosexual content, even if it's just all talk.

And I must agree with [livejournal.com profile] shaggydogstail that it would be nice if the fandom stopped warning for het. Really, what would be nice if people would just list their pairings and the rating and let conclusions be drawn from that. Even if they did it something like

Pairings: R/S (NC-17), L/J (NC-17), Moody/Squid (G)

I am constantly amused by people who unironically warn for het. Even more mind-boggling, though, are the people who warn for OOC. I just...don't understand that.

On the other hand, I love the weird/snarky warnings people come up with, like "schmoop" or "boys crying."

Explanation for a video: "
Summary: this is another AU, sort of my companion piece to "The Scientist" :) In this one, Ron was killed by Voldemort, leaving Hermione alone... she can't move on, she keeps remembering him and regretting that she didn't tell him before how much she loved him... she tries to talk to Harry about it, but he only wants to forget what happened, because it hurts too much... he's already lost too many people...
But what Hermione doesn't know is that Ron will always be right beside her, taking care of her, even in death... sometimes she even thinks she feels him next to her... and it destroys Ron to see her so sad, without being able to let go of him..."

I don't think I need to watch the video after that thorough explanation!

In the Battlestar Galactica fandom, there are sometimes warnings for "nice Sheba"

That kinda boogles my mind. It'd be like warning for "Nice Ginny"

Though I'm pretty sure one author does it tongue in cheek.

I think I'm quite bitchy on this subject - I've always thought you should warn for explicit sex and violence, and nothing else. People warning for slash and het and deathfic, schmoop and squid kind of boggles me.

I recoil from SPN deathfics (and jail-set fics) in general so I don't mind those warnings but (a) I also don't get irked if there's no warning because if the show can include something sans warning, so can fic-writers, and (b) I laugh when the fic says "spoilers through AHBL 1 & 2" *and* deathfic because *yes, obviously*. And I didn't warn for death in my "Cake or Death" fic back in May and there were lots of deaths so I should probably self-pillory right now.

*grins* My thought is that if a warning spoils the plot of the story, I won't warn. Which is, as you say, exactly how they do it on television!

There's one archive in which there's a warning category for het. Um, what?
