I know there's been discussion of when Nathan decided he'd be there to help Peter if Peter needed him, and I just rewatched the bit in the garage where Peter reads Nathan's mind.

Nathan thinks, "We're all going to die..."

Not they're all going to die which would be the logical thing to think if you're getting out in a helicopter before Boom-time because then, you wouldn't be part of the we.

Nathan probably already planned to be there with Peter, even in that moment when he was trying to get Claire out, not because he was going to flee himself, but because he already had decided that he wasn't.

Interesting point! I was wondering when Nathan grew a spine and changed his mind. It's hard to tell what he's thinking when everybody is trying to manipulate him.

Thanks! And I have a feeling we'll learn more about his decision next fall. We get so little over the whole season that's truly from his perspective, and while it's fascinating, it would be great to have some of the gaps filled...

Oh weird - I was totally thinking about this last night too!

Nathan does seem fatalistic about the whole thing. I keep wondering if I'm a Nathan apologist, but to me he was thinking that there was *nothing* that could stop the bomb and he could either come back and help with the aftermath (and he's got an over-sized sense of responsibility so this would have seemed like the 'right' thing for him to do) or he could stay and die with everyone else.

But the whole thing with him showing up at the end - I felt like he'd known this was a possibility for a while. I guess he just didn't think it would work...?

But then why have the "all" in there? Why not just "We're going to die", if he's only talking about two people, him and Peter? Unless he didn't think about flying up with Peter into outer space or whatever until the last minute, which I find hard to believe if he was planning ahead?

I've had such a hard time with that scene. I've heard "They're all going to die" and "You're all going to die," but not once did I hear "We're" and that one would make your theory interesting, and I'm really hoping it was "we," because aww that he wouldn't let Peter go through that alone.

Ooooh, that's interesting. I must say I was really upset with Nathan when he appeared to buy into the whole thing, so I'm really clinging to the hope that he was just pretending all along. Long shot, perhaps, but at least I have a long wait before I can be proven wrong *g*

ALSO, what's happening with Xanadu tickets? Just occured to me that I ought to buy my plane ticket before it gets too expensive.
