My mom has procured fuel for her car, and after less than two hours in line!

This is a vaguely insane, "new normal" yay, isn't it?

The standard aisles are full, and all the juices are delivered and
available, as is the store-brand of milk, but there is no cheese, no
prepared frozen foods, and no butter or cream cheese to be found. Maybe
next week?

A difference of 10 minutes. Would be more full but crazies like me are
pulling stuff as fast as they add it. The guys stocking here are
amazing.

FA is about to launch an essay "house" called HPInkPot and we're working on putting together categories for sorting purposes. So far, I have a bunch (see below) but was wondering if there was anything I was forgetting. Remember, things are also sorted and searchable by Character, Pairing and Era in addition to the categories, so it'll be possible to narrow uploads and searches by more than just what I am listing here.

Harry Potter has his own set of challenges in Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire, and while FictionAlley hasn't found any fire-breathing dragons for you to contend with, we are pleased to announce the TRY-WIZARD TOURNAMENT for writers and authors; we encourage you to CREATE SOME MAGIC and win one of our great prizes!

To enter, just create and submit three works of creative magic in the form of a Goblet of Fire-inspired ficlet, essay, icon or art. While we encourage you to make one submission from three of the four different categories, you can submit three ficlets, three essays, three icons or three pieces of art, or two of one and one of another - you choose the combination!

Entries will be judged on the basis of creativity and originality, as well as humor and/or insightfulness; clarity; and, in the case of text-based submissions, spelling and grammar (both U.S. and U.K. standards of spelling and grammar will be accepted, and text-based entries should be substantially in English). However, FictionAlley's usual standards regarding canon will not be applied, so feel free to venture into missing scenes, alternate universes and alternate realities. If you are creating art or icon submissions, you can use art, stills, posters, photos, screencaps or other material created or distributed by WB, Scholastic, Bloomsbury, or any other publishers of HP books, movies, merchandise or promotional material, as well as photographs, videos or screencaps of the actors as long as they have been commercially distributed, or taken at a premiere or other public or promotional event, as well as any art you've created or been given permission to use.

Entrants will submit entries only via http://www.fictionalley.org/contest; each entrant is permitted to submit one entry. No purchase is necessary. The contest is sponsored and organized by FAWC, the nonprofit Minneapolis 501(c)(3)corporation behind FictionAlley and its associated sites.

The Challenge will commence on Saturday, October 29, 2005 at 12:01 a.m., US Eastern Daylight Time ("Opening Time") and will conclude at noon, US Eastern Daylight Time, on December 6, 2005 ("Closing Time"). No entries will be accepted after the Closing Time and any entries made before the Opening Time or after the Closing Time will be discarded. The form is not live until midnight, so don't use it yet!

The Contest is a skill contest. Entries are submitted only online. There is no direct mail component to the Contest. All winners are subject to verification of eligibility and compliance with all terms and conditions set forth in these Rules.

There will be one first prize winner in each of four categories: ages 13-15, ages 16-19, ages 19-22 and ages 23 and over. There will also be one second prize winner in each of those four categories; age will be determined by the age of the entrant on December 6, 2005. There will be one grand prize winner chosen from among all entries; the grand prize winner will win the Goblet of Fire, provided by The Noble Collection. Each first prize winner will win a an egg with a pewter dragon inside. Additional prizes will be awarded to entries that are randomly selected from the total pool of all eligiable entries by a representative of FictionAlley, whose selections are final and binding in all respects.
