The hair and general expression are good, but he looks too .....healthy, maybe. Fandom has conditioned me to expect someone with a thinner face, perhaps. But don't mind me-- I didn't care for Thewlis either.

I hope the filmmakers keep that 70s-ish look about him, the longer locks too. I think make-up can simulate scars and/or sickliness if need be. He is extremely appealing to me. Yes, quite yummy...

I'm reserving judgement, 'cause last time I was like "who is that and what have they done with Remus Lupin" before I saw the film, but...I'd really like to see a picture of the guy when he hasn't got the most hideous haircut known to man.

What's his name?

Considering how much I dislike Thewlis!Lupin, I'm pleased that this guy looks *more* like what I'd expect, but I'm going to try to not get excited. I'm cautiously optimistic, let's say.

That kind of thing can be "fixed" with makeup and lights (and acting!). I think they'll have to do less for him than they will for Luna, personally. I'm very happy with the actor from this shot - he looks like an ordinary teenager, which Remus should be.

Do we know whether he looks like young David Thewlis? Then again, they might not care whether he does. He seems about right to me, but I can't squee over him or anything because he just looks WAY too much like my son...

Steve, who for many more years than Harry Potter's been in existence, has had a succesion of black dogs named after stars!! (But never a Sirius; that would have been too obvious.) Spica, (the one in the picture is Rigel); Betelgeuse, etc.... about five or six over the years, since the 70s.

My personal flashback Remus looks exactly like David Thewlis in the movie "Restoration", which is at least 10 years old now if not more.

This actor/character's moment in time isn't by any means perfect when it comes to portraying a young Remus (although I do think that I have, indeed, found the nearest-perfect representation of young Remus - only 'near perfect' because my young Remus in 'Restoration' could stand to be a few years younger. He's not quite young enough, but he's damn close to).

This young actor that you show will do, I think. But I don't think he looks quite enough like David Thewlis to satisfy me. Here is what I was envisioning, albeit about 7-8 years older than I would have liked:

Oh No They Didn't (http://community.livejournal.com/ohnotheydidnt/6084248.html).

Their source is a newsletter from a German Agency that no one but the guy who posted got :)

Not to mention that the pic was named juanblancoynegro.jpg, he renamed the file now and deletes all comments questioning his source.

Sorry for jumping in, I saw a link to this post on D_S.

He does NOT look like Lupin to me! And neither does David Thewlis!

Mary Grandpre's illustrations of him in Book 5 (I don't have the American edition of Book 3, so don't know about that) come pretty close to my mental image.
