Makes sense given that Tom was the one who produced it and he was the one who could control a basilisk. Plus they have a much more sinister connotation than a regular snake. Harry can talk to snakes, but I don't believe he would have been able to control a creature that seemingly full of hate.
That makes sense...I think the basilisk may have more symbolism to offer, because of its eyes. JKR kept saying that Harry's [mum's] eyes will be important, and the basilisk's power comes from its eyes, so . . .Just a thought. Kudos to your Harry, Heidi, for inspiring more deep thought =]
Hmm, never thought about one but it makes so much sense! kudos to him because now that I think about it, even if it isn't, it should be and now will be in my Hogwarts world.
