Note: Sidekick is down - a network issue. Don't know when it'll be fixed, so consider me going offline for the night as of now

One of the people on my flist posted a question today, but as her LJ is friends-only, I can't send you there to answer it, so I'm going to replicate it instead:
If you could drop everything right now and run off and do something fun, what would you do?

[livejournal.com profile] silverbookworm asked:
There's a competition launched in which the winner gets to present JKR with five fanfics that you are guaranteed she will read. They can be of any length, rating, pairing, and genre, and if they are part of a series, then the entire series is counted as one. You wake up to an email -- you've won! Now all you have to do is pick five fanfics and attach a note for JKR telling her why you picked these particular five. So let her know - what would those five fics be - and what would you write in the note?

Has anyone else been following the what-I-find-to-be-very-amusing "Jeff Gannon" of Talon News situation? I just don't know where to begin in terms of discussing this - I just find it all more amusing than I probably should.

Does anyone still need a gmail account? I have invites-a-plenty!

Now, I must go clean up the bowl of yellow rice which is now decorating my kitchen floor. Sigh.

Run off and do something fun? If it could be anything, I'd fly home and be with my fiance.

As for the fics, I'm a narcissist. If there are only five and she has to read them, I'd pick five of mine.

The very LAST thing I need is more gmail invites. :P I have 100.

What is WRONG with this picture?!

As to the question... if I could? I'd go and roleplay. Because there are a few games I'm REALLY itching to get in on, but no, I'll be doing schoolwork for at least three more hours.

Le sigh.

Heidi, when I see your color scheme, I smell and taste strawberry cream! :)

If you could drop everything right now and run off and do something fun, what would you do?

Fly. The smaller the plane, the better. Anywhere, I don't care if all I do is go around in circles. There's nothing like the thrill of flight. :)

Ooo... me, too -- whitewater or flat?

(Hi, Heidi. I lurk around fandom a bit, and couldn't resist when I saw a fellow kayaker post.)

Hmm. This seems kind of boring next to flying and kayaking and whatnot, but, just go and grab some of my friends--my real friends, not those people I talk to at lunch and sit next to in class--and go sit in a cafe or something and chat and laugh and just be with them. Sadly, not all of my real friends live close enough for this to be as easy as it might seem. I just--really want it, y'know? I'm so less than impressed with most of my RL friends right now that just some face-to-face gigglesqueechatting sounds like the best thing in the world.

Wow, that kind of got into TMI-land, didn't it? Sorry.

I'd go away on a trip with a couple of my friends to DC or Europe for a few days, then get a time-turner and restart the semester.

I want to visit my friend in Miami. I haven't seen him in almost a year. That's really sad since it's four hours away, but life tends to suck the possibility out of these things. Umm..to be exciting though we'd probably walk up and down South Beach and check out the babes and the cars. \~_~/

Play mini-golf. With my close friends who are currently scattered of course ... but I could really go for a game of mini-golf right now.

Totally. I may end up down there during my Spring Break if I have two consecutive days off during it. I'll drop you an LJ line if I do. :p

I'd love a g-mail invite, if you've still got some to hand out. I will be twice indebted, as I got my LJ account from you, too.

Thanks.
