The door is again open on JKR's site, but you may not be able to see it yet in certain parts of the world, WAH! At this board, there's an explanation of the code to use once you get the door open, and what you find when you open the door and play the Soopersekrit Game Thing.

I'm in NY and can see it. Although I usually go to the British version of her site. Maybe jkrowling.co.uk has it before jkrowling.com?

I could do it.

Suppose that this McClaggan/McLagan/Maclagan person she mentioned? The description actually reminds me a bit of an elder Lupin, to be honest.

My first thoughts were, "I suppose this is that new McLag(g)an character, but it sounds a lot like a really warm, older Remus description." Hehe.

Perhaps his father? That'd be interesting. I want more Lupin in my Harry Potter books, nammit!

Agreed that this person sounds very Lupinish. If this is an important character of some sort, maybe it lends some support to the 'Lupin as HBP' camp?

Alright, yeah, I'm just taking ridiculously wild stabs in the dark now. :)) Although that worked quite well for finding the lightswitch!

What is this thing about Lupin being the HBP? I missed that somewhere along the line.

I think, title-wise, the Half-Blood Prince is the Attack of the Clones of the HP world. :-P

It's one of those theories floating around. It grew when someone posted some chatlogs from Mugglenet with a person they thought was JKR, and "JKR" kept typing "LUPIN IS THE HBP" and such.

I don't quite know what to think about the JKR website quote, myself. It does sound very Lupin-like, but I'm guessing this is our first glimpse of the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher.

All I see is dark when I open the door.

That's normal---you have to click around until you hit the light switch, which is about the same level as the windowsill and roughly centered in the doorway.

Yep, I'm completely aware of the light switch. Have been since the site opened. I've turned it on and off multiple times this trip.

I leave it on for a while - leave it off for a while.

Nada.

(except Peeves just breezed through.)

not the lightswitch outside of the doorway. There's one inside of the doorway. It's where the other person said it was: slightly lower than the windowsill about halfway into the doorway.

I have the door open and the light on. there's a dart board. Now what? I'm clicking around randomly, and throwing the darts doesn't do anything

The combination for the darts is 713 (PS Gringotts vault no.) and the combination for the safe is 302723 (for reasons completely unknown to me)

Does anyone else think that the description sounds a bit like Godric Gryffindor? He sounds very leonine, whoever he is and I thought of Godric immediately after dismissing Lupin from my head. Hmm...might support the "Godric Gryffindor for HBP" movement.

Throw the darts to make 713. As in, Vault 713. ;)

It's all written in the link Heidi gave, anyway. Look there for the next step, I don't remember it very well, I have a terrible memory with numbers.

YAY!!!! Thankee muchly! It took me a minute to figure out to hit the space inside the number insted of the number itself, but now I am happy and have my splendid scrap of paper! I certainly want to meet that character, and I definitely agree with all who think it sounds like Lupin

I thought so too. Which would mean that Harry is viewing him in a "flashback" scene, like he did in the diary and the pensieve, or he got hold of the time-turner.
Sounds intriguing!!!

Hi,

I came across your LJ and am friending you if you don't mind. I'm Tara (aka Isildur) from FAP and just wanted to drop in to say hi to the founder of FAP, one of my favorite fandom sites!

Take care,

Tara

Yes, that's what I was wondering about. I don't think that Harry can see him in a Pensieve coz who would be old enough to have memories of Godric Gryffindor? And wasn't the time-turner a one-hour-per-turn thing? Though I suppose he could lay his hands on one with different settings *shrugs* I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
