FictionAlley is about to choose a new pack of Nifflers!

What's a Niffler? Nifflers, who're named after the fluffy creatured from Goblet of Fire that find jewels and shiny things, are fanfic fans who've been given a chance to share their recommendations with the Harry Potter fandom in a section of FictionAlley Park. Generally, a Niffler's recommendations should be for "undiscovered gems" and fics that deserve, but don't yet have, a bit of a spotlight.

Every four or five months, FictionAlley posts a Call for Nifflers, and anyone can apply to be one - the only requirements are that you be a fan of fanfiction, that you have experience reviewing stories and providing constructive and/or insightful comments, and that you not have been assessed more than one point for Terms of Use violations since May 15, 2004. Nifflers are selected solely based on their ability to write a good review and a willingness to seek out newly posted fics to recommend. FA does ask that Nifflers, once selected, not recommend fics from only one small area of fandom, but we recognize that Nifflers will showcase their personal preferences in their selection processes. Nifflers don't have to be FictionAlley regulars, or post their fics only at FA, nor do they have to recommend fics that are hosted on FA; the only fics that can't be recced at all are those that are rated NC-17, those by authors who've already been Niffled twice, or those that are written by other Fic Nifflers *during* the term in which that Niffler is actively Niffling.

How can I apply? Applications can be submitted until July 10, 2004. Just read the application here, then copy the application into the body of an email. Type NIFFLER APPLICATION into the Subject space, and, after answering the questions, email it to nifflerapplications@fictionalley.org on or before July 10, 2004; we'll let you know if you've been selected on or before July 20, 2004.
