I've actually written a second chapter of Guileless, and it's being beta-ed right now. I hope to post it on Tuesday or so.

Here's a small snip from the chapter:

As the boys talked brooms and bludgers, Severus Snape remained slouched in an armchair on the other side of the hearth, his beaky nose buried in one of the tomes he’d selected from Mr Potter’s well-stocked library. He only looked away from the pages to Accio another candied egg from the basket on the side table, where Slip, the house elf, had placed them after gathering them from the hens that morning.

“If you wish it,” James was saying, “I would be pleased to detach you from these dull acquaintances, and introduce you into more frolicksome society.” To himself, he thought he would form Pettigrew’s opinions and his manners. It would be an interesting, and certainly a very kind undertaking; highly becoming his situation in life, his leisure, and powers.

“Another pet to add to your collection of followers, Potter?” Snape’s voice slithered across the room. “Pettigrew, take a word of advice – Potter’s idea of a ‘frolicksome’ adventure, as he puts it, may find you serving detention in the Dark Forrest every day for a week – that is, if you survive the first night.”

Pettigrew, who had borne a pleasant expression until this moment, suddenly looked frightened at the thought. James thought to soothe him away from Snape’s arrogant manipulations.
