1. Those of you in SoCal - remember that we're coming there in 3 weeks...
I'm nervous about the fires. Do they think they'll be totally out by mid-November?

2. If you're going to send emails to the fa help desk complaining about a plagiarised story (someone took someone else's fic word for word from ffn and didn't even change the title) please take a moment to see if the fic is still on the site. If we pulled it 36 hours before, all you'll do is irk the belagured admins.

Off to the bookfair, to try and convince people to pay $30 for ootp because they get a cool hat with it.

It takes a long time for fire to be put out. They first have to be fully contained, which none of the fires are, and then after the main fires are put out, firefighters still have to wait around for flare-ups.

Problem is, these fires are just totally out of control, so I'm unfortunately not sure if there's any answer to your question right now.

Didn't forget. About the fires, don't know when they'll be out.

I'm not sure they'll be fully out, but it should be a lot safer. I remember some reporter's offhand comment that we *might* be feeling the effects till Thanksgiving - but that's probably exaggeration, or at the very least they'd be minimal by then. Airports *are* operating. And I expect they'll reopen schools and such tomorrow. So if the air won't kill us tomorrow, it should be fine a month from now.

Our school's book fair is next week. I already have OOTP (of course! ) but I really want that hat.

I think Sara has a good point about exaggeration. The news coverage has been mixed and often sensationalized. I'm guessing that in three weeks not all the fires will be out completely but it will be much safer than it is now.

Heidi, you said something in another post about your relatives who lived in Escondido ... are they okay?!?!? Keep us posted, I'm concerned. This whole thing is just unreal.

*hugs*

Hello Heidi,

I was wondering if there's an easy way to locate a post you made once, I think it was in your journal, about the difference between plagiarism and copyright infringement. I wanted to show it to someone because it was so well explained. I have been trying to make Google cough it up to no avail. Do you have a link to it? I checked your memories but it wasn't there:(

Thanks!

Sky
