'Cause it's root! root! root! for either team,
Whoever wins, it's the same,
When there's Yankees and Marlins fans
Going to the ballgame!
My husband is a Yankees fan; he's been one since birth. He was born in Manhattan, you see, and his dad is a Yankees fan and his dad is a Yankees fan...
My son is a Marlins fan. He doesn't quite understand team rivalries yet, and thinks that the Marlins are the *real* baseball team and other people come down to Pro Player Stadium to play them and then disapear again.
Our anniversary is this weekend and:
1. If my parents weren't traveling, we'd hop on a Jet Blue plane tomorrow and leave the kids at home and pay what it takes to get tickets from a scalper; and
2. We've now changed our plans for dinner tomorrow night, and are going out at 6 so we can be home in time to watch at least most of the game.
Hugs to all Cubs and Sox fans - I actually was vaguely rooting for those teams, and it's a little weird knowing that everyone in the country HATES US or at least our team, but to the rest of you, I say, "There's always next year!"
And to those outside the US and/or Canada... Sorry for boring you! :)

Date: 2003-10-17 07:06 am (UTC)I've picked up all sorts of odd bits and pieces of knowledge since getting my livejournal. Lately I've been learning quite a lot about baseball - or at least the names of the different teams - from my friends list.
I take it your team won an important match? *g*

Date: 2003-10-17 07:41 am (UTC)--You know - for Yankees and NY - that's the same feeling I have - and probably why I don't say much of anything on LJ about it...
And HAVE A HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! >:D< :) *hugs*

Date: 2003-10-17 08:05 am (UTC)Identifying with this as both a New Yorker and a Yankees fan is, I think, the reason why I love Ayn Rand's characters -- those who are despised for being exceptional -- so very much.
Happy anniversary.

Date: 2003-10-17 08:55 am (UTC)It would have really been cool to go to the game.
Since I expect you're going to be celebrating and watching the game this weekend, should we leave the mod stuff until Monday? I'm on YM.

Date: 2003-10-17 01:04 pm (UTC)I haven't actively followed baseball for ages, but it's been interesting watching all the loyalties on my flist.

Personally, I don't quite understand this baseball fever. But then, I was born/raised in Dallas, where the less said about baseball, the better. :p
