1. This is why gay marriage is a necessary right.
"The Social Security Administration denied the request, saying that the child did not meet the agency's test as Ms. Caracappa's legal survivor..."

2. The bamboo on the north side of our house isn't going to make it.
Perhaps we'll plant palms instead.

3. I've been up since about 3am because Jon just wanted to eat and eat, and at 6, we had to take my parents to the airport.
Man, am I tired.

4. I am guilty of buying gadgets and rarely using them.
But the 23-year old who said, "I thought all I had to do was buy the camera and everyone would be throwing these opportunities at me..." needs a reality check.

5. Um, Chicagoans?
Did the guy get home safely?

6. If the Yankees and Marlins win, I worry about my family.
Aaron's been a Yankees fan since birth and my dad bought Marlins season tickets the day they went on sale and has never let them lapse.

7. We had to drop the mattress height in Jon's crib.
He was a little freaked the first time we put him in it and it was lower, but he's used to it now.

8. He's getting up on his hands & knees for a second or two at a time.
And he really wants to be on the move!

9. Harry has decided that he wants a little white dog.
Does anyone have a westie, and if so, what can you tell me about them?

10. was kind enough to write a Sirius/Draco ficlet for me, and you can find it here.
[livejournal.com profile] ari_o is amused!

11. Check out Zorb's School Of Rock/HP montage thingy.
V. v. funny.

12. [livejournal.com profile] copperbadge has written another wonderful section of his amazing AU, in which Sirius & Remus own a bookstore, and are raising Harry.
It's especially good in that Dobby has no lines!

13. At theKayBee Toys 30% Off Everything sale earlier this week, I got a pair of fairy wings to wear on Halloween.
They have a lot of purple in them so perhaps on November 1, I will send them to [livejournal.com profile] folk.

14. I believe that I am going to go to Duran Duran with [livejournal.com profile] ixchelmala in November in San Diego.
Anyone else want to join us?

15. I think we may be allowing something on FA shortly, if [livejournal.com profile] praetorianguard says yes.
And I think very few of you will take advantage of it, but it'll be good for Newbies.

16. Does anybody know how to change my LJ so instead of the images for reply and email and read-replies, I have text?
[livejournal.com profile] folk, I like the way yours is set up - which style are you using?

17. We are going to have calendars and more SHIP shirts on FA's shoppe as of November 5, and will add more SHIP stuff every few days through that month.
I think we are set in terms of artists, but offers of metaphorical SHIP art are always appreciated (please talk to me if you're interested).

18. I am not doing NaNoWriMo.
I am doing "Try try try try to finish Surfeit of Curses in the month of November.

19. My sidekick isn't sending messages out.
I must go call the dorques over at T-Mobile and say, "Arrrr!"

20. I miss Publix Direct
For about six months, they allowed me to avoid going to the grocery store, but now, I must again :(

21. [livejournal.com profile] flourish, how hard is it to switch me to Component?
Do you hate me for asking?

22. I must now dash and do a closing in Ft Lauderdale.
[livejournal.com profile] tabithajones, it got moved to today, so lunch tomorrow is less likely in Aventura, but let me know if you want to come down to Miami, ok?

I have a Westie and have loved every moment with her. She's sweet, loving, tolerant of children, and a manageable size. She scarcely sheds at all (which is very nice, especially for an allergy-prone person like me) and is adorable overall. She was a little hyper as a puppy (but then, aren't all puppies?), but mellowed as an adult. She's fourteen now and has slowed down a lot, but she certainly made my childhood a great deal happier.

So... yeah. Westies good.

2. You were able to kill bamboo? I'm impressed. I didn't think anything could kill bamboo...

10. Man I wish I'd thought of that first. Draco/Sirius! All the cool kids are doing it!

Man, it sucks to be him.

16. If I understand this correctly, to get only text e-mail replies sent to you, just go to your manage info page, and then near the bottom there will be a box that says send HTML e-mail replies. You should just have to uncheck the box and it should send only text e-mails to you.

14) I'd love to go, but I'll be in North Carolina at that time. I have in-laws in San Diego, too. *whines*

9) My sister has a Westie. His name is Easton. :) He's very cute and they are good with kids. I recommend.

Though I love large dogs.

2: Bamboo didn't work out in my yard either. Went with palms. They have magically spread with no help though. But wouldn't you think that bamboo would work in South Florida?

I am not a fan of westies. I've never owned one, but in high school I babysat for a family with two. They were very high strung and so yappy that the owners got these special electrical collars that shocked them every time they barked. My mother got her first dog this year, and because she has terrible allergies she got a bichon frise, who often gets mistaken for a westie. She absolutely loves him.

You killed off bamboo? In Florida? You're my hero. I tried to do that for years and gave up when it looked like pandas were going to move in.

My son also wanted a white dog. We got an American Eskimo. The American Eskimo hated my son and had to find a new home with only adults. A Westie would have been a much better choice and they probably don't follow you around while walking on their hind legs.

Don't have a westie, but we do have two gorgeous Bichons Frises. Same size as westies, non-moulting, non-doggy-smelling, softest fluffy wool coat imaginable (not harsh like a poodle), happiest temperaments. If you don't mind grooming, and you want a happy, gregarious little dog, I would recommend a Bichon fullheartedly. Great with children, great with cats (they don't have that terrier instinct).

I think there's a section on it in the FAQ's. If you're using the new style system it's only for paid users, so it might be under that section? *shrugs* I just know it's uner FAQ's. I'm positive I've seen it there before.

It's not regular bamboo, it's this sort of fuzzy stuff that I think I overwatered.

And just because others have written things of that pairing doesn't mean you shouldn't apply your considerable talents, too ;)

Mmm, I have the feeling Draco/Sirius should be handled with care. They never actually encounter each other in the books, do they? Except for Draco seeing Padfoot on the platform in OotP.

*sam realises he wrote D/S subtext unthinkingly into Acts Infernal, fears for his own sanity*

Fuzzy bamboo. Sounds like the name of a fusion band :D

That is their only RL encounter but...

In PoA, doesn't draco know quite a bit about Sirius? Doesn't he seem a little obsessed about him? He really wants Harry to tell him more, to talk about Sirius... And the fact that Harry knows nothing prevents draco from taking it farther.

Of course, if I ever rewrote soc, it would explain a bit in the prologue...

Lol. Draco's a Sirius fanboy!

I'll have to go look through PoA again and see if I can figure out whether the Death Eaters know that it was Peter or not. If they do, and they think Peter doublecrossed them, then they're glad Sirius did it; if they think Sirius was the secret-keeper, they're either glad he's rotting for double-crossing The Big Bad, or they think he's splendid for having betrayed the Good Guys so readily.

Gah. Head spinning...*muses*
