My Harry started pre-K today. It's all good. Except last night, at Back To School orientation, they told us that today was a half day. So I'm off to pick him up now...

You'd think they'd've told us more than 13 hours in advance?

*hugs to the mom of a newly-schooled child*

Did the a.m. parting go all right? I know it's sometimes challenging.

What doofus is responsible for informing you about the half-day so late? It's ridiculous.

It might be an Australian thing, but the first day of the year here for Kindy and Pre-Primary is always a half day. It's so the kids can be 'acclimatised' to it.

I always suspected it was so that the new teachers didn't get frightened and not come back. :p

My lil' Fred and Georgina started kindergarten two weeks ago.

Bless whoever thought of all-day Kindergarten! (But Wednesdays are early release... so not to much mommy time today.)

And yeah... they should have told you guys that is was early release WAY beforehand.

My dd (oh wow Babycenter throwback, where did that come from?), gets the most unbelievable amount of time off. We *never* got that much, I'm absolutely sure of it.

It's a bugger to organize around.

Actually...
It's his third year in the same school - different classroom, different teachers, slightly different classmates, but it's very "been there done that" which is kind of strage when one has a four year old.

Oh, dear God, Babycenter. I still get my weekly baby updates, but man, for Harry I was all over the boards there thru pregnancy - although I sorta stopped when he was about 3 months old and rolling back to front, because we were (oh, how to say it without bragging crazily) a little out of step with the rest of his month.

*snorts*

I stopped with BBC a month after Thomas was born. I could no longer cope with posts saying things like..."Is it okay to feed my 4 week old some solids?" or "My baby may have swallowed something and is turning blue, what should I do?"

The stupidity of 75% of the posters made me want to eat my own head!
