Aug. 26th, 2003 01:01 pmMy friend Lisa (
laughingirl) is walking a marathon and a half in September to fight breast cancer. This is the second year in which she's walking, although last year's walk was cancelled less than halfway through due to bad weather.
This year, we hope the weather will be better - because if it is, Lisa may get to her goal. She is determined to raise $5000, and we know that with a wide circle of supporters, she'll be able to reach that goal.
I have known Lisa since the fall of 1994, when we met on a discussion list focused on the tv show FRIENDS. The list, and the show, were brand new that year, and the internet was a sparkly new thing with very few people and even fewer graphicly-enabled browsers. Yahoo was nothing more than Yet Another Heirarchically Organized Omnisite.
My, how things have changed. But Lisa is still a wonderful and determined person, and I want her to reach this goal.
Because of this, I promised that I would share the link to her donation page to people I know who might be interested in helping her reach her goal.
To learn more about Lisa's journey and to make a donation to a great cause, please visit her Avon Walk for Breast Cancer page: http://www.avonwalk.org/site/TR?pg=personal&fr_id=1025&px=1025457
