Annie Golden's 'hang up the phone' from 1983 is such the perfect snapshot of Fashions of That Era.

And didn't she go on to play squeaky fromme in assassins?

She did, indeed, go on to play Squeaky. With Greg Gehrman, whom I couldn't see on Ally McBeal without thinking "...I would move mountains; I would do anything for you. What do you want me to do?"

Did you hear that the revival will supposedly be staged after all? Word is that once Cabaret moves out, it'll go up there.

*He* was hinkley? Woah. I was not aware of that - bad me. It was only after I saw him as daddt warbucks that I realised that Booth was whatsisname from Alias.

Btw - am seeing adam in september. Will corrall him then!

Yeah, yeah-- broadway actors pop up in surprising places and are hard to distinguish! I suspect that since you've figured out the Assassins/Alias connection for Victor Garber, you probably connected him to Sweeney Todd, too?

And thanks for attempting to corrall Adam... I do appreciate it!

Yes, I knew he was, but I'm not a big sweeney todd fan - I listened to it once and that was enough. Sort of the way I feel about Most Happy Fella.

Most Happy Fella... ecch.

Come to think of it, I didn't fully like Sweeney until I saw a live production. There's quite a bit of stuff I haven't liked until I saw it on its feet. Conversely, though, there's been much that I liked upon hearing that I didn't like live. Any similar experiences?

I will second the ecch on Most Happy Fella.

On a semi-related note, were you an MT at U of M? I remember you said you went here. If you were, I probably saw you in a bunch of stuff and didn't even realize it.

Hello, there.

No, actually, I was not an MT at UM, although you probably saw many of my friends and former cast members onstage. I hold a BFA in directing from Theatre & Drama department within the School of Music, so many of our classes were shared with the MTs.

Perhaps you did catch shows I directed for T&D or Basement or Rude Mechanicals. While I was there, I directed Much Ado About Nothing, David Ives' Ancient History, that funky two-Hamlet production of Hamlet, Madeleine George's The Most Massive Woman Wins, a workshop of john & jen... a bunch of student-written shows for workshops, too.

What are(/were) you studying at UM?

Hmm, I saw john & jen at Basement Arts last year, but I didn't think it was a workshop. I really like Andrew Lippa, though.

I'm graduating this year, majoring in Judaic Studies and Cell and Molecular Biology...though in a perfect world, I'd probably be studying musical theatre somewhere. Go blue! :)
