Nah, not a t00b (although I was amused to see you *use* the word 't00b' on USAToday *g* ). I disagree that Harry ending up on the roof as a child indicates special wandless-magic powers. Hagrid posed this question to him "Never made anything happen when you was angry or scared?" which implies that it's common for young, untrained children to 'make things happen' in highly charged moments without a wand or any other control. Neville bounced down the road without a wand, and it doesn't seem like his family was especially impressed that it was wandless - just that he showed *any* sign of magic. But that's just my interpretation.

However, I thought your answers were great. (Weird to see my own question online, lol.) Well done!

*agrees with above people on subject re: are you a t00b?*

So yeah - you were so not a t00b - you just rocked :D And I'm with Plu in agreeing that it was weird to see my question up online ^^

*hugs*

You were not a t00b at all! I thought you did great. It may not have been easy to interpret HP for the masses, but I bet it was fun. :) And thanks for answering my t00by question. Oh, and thank you for your thoughts on the prophecy and books 6 & 7 - I'm not sure you've changed my mind, but you've given me something new to consider. :)

I did have a question about this: Of course, I also think that everyone should go through the last four chapters and replace Sirius' name with Hagrid, and I know a lot of people who disagree with me on that...

What did you mean with this? That by re-reading it, we would see that it could've been Hagrid? Perhaps I'm not thinking too clearly today...

You weren't a t00b. You were very . . . Heidi. And very neatly sidestepped the shipping questions.

Nice manip there, kiddo.

The only thing I thought was silly was that you had a FLINT in your description of FictionAlley - Maybe the real two administrators are you and Simon, but remember that job title you came up with for me, "Administrator in charge of Logistics"? Yep, a third admin, if in name only - not to mention all the park admins. :) *is a nitpicky t00b*

Other than that rather silly point, excellent as always :)

Yikes! I sure didn't expect to see my name in there!

You did a great job, Heidi! I hate interviews, but you made it seem effortless. You sounded smart and all your answers were thoughtful. You also managed to define a lot of fandom things in simple terms that a non-fandom reader could understand.

Heh -- I got impatient and left my compliments and squee-age in your last entry's comments. ;)

I'd love to see what kind of feedback they get from the mundanes on this chat.

Wow, I didn't even think of Umbridge in a pedagogical sense at all! I saw her as a representative of an increasingly invasive and paranoid government, and I could see anti-centralized government and anti-near-fascist-conservative-governemnt arguments residing in her trope simultaneously...

Fantastic answer, though, and totally now what I was expecting, which is always fabulous. :>

Not a t00b at all. Some interesting ways to look at a couple things I hadn't thought of before. But - :) you wanted Hagrid to die? :( I was rooting for several people (Arthur, Colin, maybe even Neville). By the time they got to the death (and the way it happened), I wasn't all that shocked or even that sad. More like, I was glad that it wasn't Hagrid. :) I thought you handle a range of questions very well. Nice work! ;)

Nicely done, Heidi.

About the death -- I still can't believe that more people didn't predict from the text (as they were reading) that Sirius was going to be the one to die. The complete inability of Harry and Sirius to say "good-bye" in the flurry just started my inner count-down clock.

I agree with you regarding thoughts of Harry's romantic inclinations in the immediate future, and would like to hear some of the details behind your Percy-musings at some point.

Thanks so much - I would love to know the reaction of any mundanes who read it! And yeah, what you've said about ya novels just seemed like the only reasonable reply on that question. If I'd known/thought about it in advance I would have asked if I could've listed your site too.

Anyway, great job Heidi. I enjoyed reading all of your answers.

I really liked your explanation of how the Pensieve works. Best I have seen so far.

You were absolutely not a t00b, though I wonder if the term will catch on now that the mainstream public has been exposed to it.
