or a version of it, on the mailing list or message board of your choice - or just start getting your friends-list together to do something neat with Nimbus!

As you may know, earlier this month, Nimbus - 2003 announced its wonderful slate of programs and presentations (available here:http://www.hp2003.org/nimbuspgmtrack.html).

Now, since the programming is settled, we're pleased to be able to add something NEW to Nimbus - 2003's already-varied selection of sponsorship opportunities - our Programming Sponsorship opportunities.

Each of the presentations, panels, round tables, debates and discussions on that list above is available for sponsorship, at a rate of $100 per session. In other words, a website, a small business, a mailing list, a group of friends, or an individual can be the Official Sponsor of one of our wonderful sessions.

Session sponsors will receive a sign in the room and an acknowledgement in the program, and we'll work with you to create the sign and the language for the program as well! Also, session sponsors who are also exhibitors get the same consideration as all other sponsors, including a guaranteed space in the Exhibition Room.

The Fine Print
Session sponsorship reservations will be held for 10 business days from the session sponsor's sending a reservation email to me, or to Sponsor@hp2003.org, by which time a completed Sponsorship Form must be returned to lock in the sponsorship. 50% payment must be received within 30 days of receipt of the sponsorship form, with the balance due on or before May 31, 2003.

You can ask me any questions you have about this - email heidit@netbox.com, ym me at heiditandy or just post a comment here!

Hi, Heidi. You don't know me, I don't think, but I just have a question about Nimbus.

I'm 16, and I want to go to Nimbus. I know that I have to bring a parent to Orlando. But I was talking to [livejournal.com profile] marvolo, and she seems to think that if you're under 18, you have to bring your parent to the actual *convention*.

Er, see, there are some things *coughslashcough* that I would prefer my mother didn't know about. So, I'll stop rambling now, and just ask- would I have to bring my mom into the actual convention, or would she just have to...I don't know, drop me off there or something?

Thanks so much.

What the FAQ actually says is that your parent or guardian must travel with you and must be staying at the hotel with you. Your parent actually *cannot* accompany you to all the sessions unless they also purchase a registration. What your parent *does* have to do is authorize you to go to the programming. When they register for you, there are two waivers (three, actually) that they need to check to certify that they agree.

First, everyone has to certify that they agree with our terms of use and privacy policy, and that HP Education Fanon, Inc. is authorized to use and access the information you supply by registering. (It's a standard legal waiver sort of thing).

Second, parents must certify two things:
a. That a parent, legal guardian, or authorized chaperone will travel with you and be responsible for you throughout the event. "Authorized chaperones" must have a signed and notarized consent form with them (signed by them and your parents) when you check in or you will not be allowed to attend.

b. That they "understand the programming is intended for an audience of 18 years of age and over, and some sessions may contain adult themes and language. By checking this box, [they] acknowledge that it is [their] responsibility to instruct [their] child as to the content [they] deem acceptable, and that Nimbus - 2003, its staff, volunteers, or presenters cannot act as supervisors or monitors of which regular programming sessions [their] child attends.

So, no, you don't need to handcuff yourself to your parents' wrists and drag them around with you to attend. However, they do need to be on hand in case there's a problem. Furthermore, we will expect them to leave a way to get in touch with them (such as a cell phone number) if they intend to be outside of the hotel during the day.
