Last year, I so desperately wanted to get to London for the Groban/Menzel/Pascal performance of Chess, but between for various reasons involving family health issues, it didn't happen. I caught clips over the past year on youtube but the quality was always problematic, and of course, there was no flow from one clip into the next.

Luckily, not only is PBS airing it next week, it's coming out on DVD and on CD and it looks like it'll be on iTunes too! NEXT TUESDAY!

And am I the only one who'd be curious to see it back on Broadway with Adam Lambert and Kris Allen trading the roles of Freddie and Anatoly nightly, or at least weekly? No, I don't know how Kris is as an actor, but it doesn't *really* matter, does it?

In Chess? No, it doesn't much matter how good anyone is as an actor, really. :-P (Oh, that show. Ate the first semester of my sophomore year. Blergh.)

Kris is not a very good actor.

HOWEVER I would rather see them in JCS. Plus Allison of course.

Frak me. I'm going to have to beg and find someone to record it for me. We gave up cable last year, because we weren't watching anything on TV except Jon Stewart, and he can be watched online. Thanks for the heads-up!

I owe you majorly for your loan to me of the concert version years ago - I just bought the dvd for myself, and while I want to see the extras once, I won't watch them again - I never do. Let me send it to you next week, so you can enjoy all the extras - and the dvd itself - too.

I would adore you forever. I play the UK version to death. Tim just sighs and disappears off to a different part of the house so he won't have to hear it again. Chess! Time to find my earphones and listen to all the marvelous Cold War angst.
