Ah, lj-email-posting, how I love you when the new posting page is wiggy on the sidekick!

Now, am I behind the times or on a precipice? Because how did I not know there was a Foo Fighters cover of Baker Street, and if it's something everyone already knows about then has there been a House/Wilson vid using it yet, and if not why not, espeically as I think I just realised after about 25 years of listening to this song that the second-person-narrator character ends up crashing overnight at the place of his into-one-night-stands friend?

I already really need to learn vidding so I can do that vid about Rose set to Camera Obscura's cover of Modern Girl and something Jack-centric using Teddy Thompson's cover of Don't Dream It's Over so maybe I should just add that to the list but I really haven't seen all the eps of House so I know I'd be missing some amazing clip-inclusion anyway.

Does everyone know that tomorrow, XMradio.com will have an all-Chanukah station for a day? I'm sure both of Adam Sandler's songs will be in there but I'm curious to know what else they're going to play. I think you can still get a free day-trial of XM via their website so if you're curious it should be worth a listen.

My ipod seems to know that it's the holiday season - it played both Do They Know It's Christmas (both versions) and the first of Sandler's Hanukah Songs this week. Can it tell it's been 50ish weeks since I played them last?

And a moment of curiosity - what's your favorite holiday film? There's this obscure New Adventures of Heidi where she meets a girl named Elizabeth and they go to NYC, which I think is from 79 or 80 that I truly love but I think Love Actually is probably what I most want to watch in the season this year.

What's your pick?

On the eighth day of Chanukah, heidi8 sent to me...
Eight eights a-reading
Seven schnoogles a-writing
Six glitterbugs a-meeping
Five lu-u-u-ush cosmetics
Four torchwoods
Three fighting quakers
Two finn brothers
...and a theatre in a kalmar and ruby.

Umm... A Muppet Christmas Carol, actually. :) I love the music even if I loathe one of the non-muppet characters.

My Mom and I loved the "light the lamp, not the rat" part. I love the Muppets.

Gonzo and Rizzo are <3. Although one of my favourite parts is the penguin christmas skating party.

I'm a big fan of White Christmas and I really liked Polar Express. For movies that have some holiday in them, but don't really focus on it, I would pick Sleepless in Seattle.

I actually really love Christmas Eve on Sesame Street (I've already had it on twice in the background while I worked on homework this year). My friends make fun of me because I'm 20 and slightly outside the intended age range, but I still watch it.

For slightly more grown-up fare, I like Elf and Meet Me in Saint Louis.

If I could own one dress in the world it would be Judy Garland's holiday dress. And I would wear it every single day, no matter the weather.

A Christmas Story, hands down. You'll shoot your eye out!

I am just amazed by your icon. Talk about the holiday spirit!

A Charlie Brown Christmas (though that's really a TV special), A Christmas Story, and Love Actually.

Tri Orisky Pro Popelku (Three Hazelnuts for Cinderella) - a Czech movie of the Cinderella fairytale, it has been a holiday standard on TV in Norway for the last three decades.

Hopefully, lots of klezmer! ;-D

WP had an article about the XM radio thing -- it runs all 8 days, and will have other general Jewish content as well. And! they will have an interview or something with Barenaked Ladies, which I would hope means they will play one or more of the Hanukkah songs off Barenaked for the Holidays. *geeklove*

I'm a sucker for 2 films - It's A Wonderful Life and A Christmas Story. I can't wait for TNT's 24 Hours of Ralphie :D

You know, Love Actually is my favorite movie period for right now, but it doesn't do the same things to me that White Christmas does, always. :) That might be my favorite Christmas move forever. It's very nostalgic to me.

And that House/Wilson vid would be fantastic if it exists.

Does While You Were Sleeping count? It's set at Christmas, anyway. But for purely holiday-themed movies, it would be the standard A Christmas Story and the short TV specials Grinch, Charlie Brown and Mickey's Christmas Carol.

Oooh, a whole day of Hanukkah songs? We sang a few in high school - I would enjoy hearing others. Let us know how it goes!

I may record some of it but it sounds like it'll be the whole eight days. You should try to catch a listen to a bit.
