Register for Prophecy!

Registration is now open for Prophecy 2007, taking place in Toronto, Ontario, from August 2 - 5, 2007. And for one week only, you can register at the same price that was available at Lumos this summer - $125 USD for basic Prophecy 2007 admission, or $175 USD for admission including Welcoming and Leaving Feasts (and yes, you can upgrade from the lower to the pricier if you wish).

At this point, I am hoping to go, but because of everything that happened last month with my sister, I feel like my own wishes need to be deferred to family concerns. So I'm going to register for it, but I can't swear that registering means I'll be there for all of it - of course, I registered for TWH and Lumos, too, and only attended both of them for a single night each, so the same thing may happen next summer.

Well, I hope you go just so I can see you. :) Do we know yet where it will be held? I mean, Toronto, obviously, but where in Toronto?

The Sheraton (three out of four HPEF events end up in Starwood hotels!) hotel/conference centre.

And I really hope you present.

I am so tempted to preregister! Toronto is my grad school town and home away from home. But I'm not sure about the family's schedule for next summer.

However, that's not so expensive a preregistration price that I would kick myself for spending when I couldn't go, now is it?

And if I knew I was free to attend, I would propose to present about how the series deals with magic, monarchy and alternate history.

Oooh, alt-history! And royalty!

Have I ever told you my theory that Elizabeth Tudor actually spent her exile from Mary's court teaching transfiguration at Hogwarts?

Srsly. I mean, her mom was a Slytherin Old Girl, right?

Oh, yes, Anne Boleyn makes a wonderful bridge between the worlds and I'd figure that one of the issues in the English Civil War would have to be Charles losing or, more in character, turning aside the support of any wizarding subjects. And the Glorious Revolution would have to have had some wizarding assistance to have gone so smoothly.

And it would be fun to contrast the Harry Potter alt-history with other British magical fantasies!

I'm trying to figure out if the Sheraton is the place we stayed when we went to Toronto in 03 for S&S's wedding. Can't find decent enough hotel photos to confirm whether I recognize it or not. I haven't yet managed to get to any HP symposium, but I admit, Toronto is a great place and a bit tempting. (Of course, we've also debated holding off until closer to our 10th anniversary - late Sept - and celebrating at CN tower.)

Barb is coming from Philly by train, so that might even be a viable option for you.

And I need to go reply to one of your posts from earlier in the week now...

I registered for Prophecy earlier today. :-) I hope you can make it, at least for part of the time....

I'm definitely going to volunteer on-site again, assuming that people are needed to do stuff (which they always are, aren't they?). Programming prefecting was certainly fun and I'd happily do it again, but there are tons of other things floating around that would be cool too.

No fair, the only reason I can't register now is cause I don't know when summer session will run to, cause my school never has it's act together. So gonna be at least an extra 25, uch. Does anyone know if there gonna be a student version of the tickets this go around?
