w00t!

On lunch break from training session. Learned that w00t is Word of the Year, according to Merriam-Webster.

And yes, they're spelling it with the two 0's.

I am amused, and not just because the fictionalley Cafe Press store has had w00t shirts since 2003. I am also fearful of the fact that we now need to consider allowing dictionary-approved l33t-speak in fics and the Park!

Wibble. What next, t00bs?

Reading this article, I was distracted from the utter wrongness of "w00t" even making it into the Merriam-Webster. I couldn't read the article becuase the Schroedinger's LOLcat pic was so utterly brilliant. Like, I know the destruction of lines between high and vulgar English is way more important, but Schroedinger's LOLcat is such a great concept. **pedant with no sense of proportion, apparently**

Thank you for sharing this amusing travesty.

Haha, that makes sense, since things aren't usually recongized as trends until the trend is over (not that people have stopped saying "w00t," but it's not a thing like it used to be).

And I still don't know what the damn thing means! (Er. Not that I especially care...) Just like l33t and t00b! At leat acronyms usually come good.
