Cute, angst-free, instilling in me an interest in Dean/Rusty Ryan fic involving food and poker, and good use of McG.

I did *not* like the Gilmore Girls line. I don't want either (a) a world where someone else plays Dean Forester or (b) a world where both Sam and Jared exist, because those ideas both hurt my brain.

Loved the rest of the meta, though, especially the bitching about the weather in Canada and the not-smallville-but-rather-lois-and-clark line as they got off the tram. Glad there was a mention of Rose Madison, and I loved Dean's depth of movie knowledge combined with his major gaps when it comes to internet things, and Sam's complete gaps re films. How has he never seen Poltergeist? Did John restrict their tv viewing that much?

Very nervous about next week's ep, though. One of my squicks in reading SPN fic is anything where they're locked up - I've never read it and never will - and I know from the preview that there's a deliberate decision in the next ep to *get* imprisoned, but I'm still wibbly about it. And I'm avoiding all spoilers other than that one "next time..." bit.

The Poltergeist thing wasn't in reference to the movie, though, just the legend about the movie set.

(Rose Madison? Is there a Rose I missed somewhere?)

Ooh, sorry you're nervous about next week. Especially since the rest of the fandom is squealing in anticipation.

Doctor Who reference re mentions of Rose in the non-Rose eps of this season.

The thing is, I love doppleganger-situations in fics, so I don't know why the line tonight made me go "ick". I mean, one of the first fics I read in SPN was premised on Dean actually being Jason Teague - and I loved that. Maybe it'll be sort of a mirror image of next week's ep for me? Like, I can't read jail-set fics but I'll love the episode, in contrast to liking doppleganger fics but not liking it on the show.

I'm weird. I know.

Dean was totally adorable in this episode. Just so cute. Enjoying the hell out of the semblance of a 'normal' job. Awwww.

I do, however, think it was inconsiderate of him to have sex with a girl who doesn't die post coitus, so soon after Sam's tragedy. ;)

I don't think Sam hasn't seen Poltergeist; I think the point was that he hadn't heard about the rumors of the haunted set and the deaths that supposedly went on behind the scenes. Which is actually a little more surprising than Sam not having seen the movie itself, now that I think about it...

You know, I'm a wee bit twitchy about the prison episode, too. Except I don't know why. I don't know what about the idea has me twitchy. Just...indefinable twitch, over here.

Dean was so cute in this. And I love how he takes to the job so well: so cute.

Re poltergeist - I thought everyone knew the story re the cursed set, but maybe it wasn't something John was interested in - it wasn't The Demon, so...?

Next week? I will cling to you and we can wibble together.

Thank goodness, I'm not the only one! I hate fics with the boys in prison, I avoid them like the plague. And I will usually pretty much read anything. I don't know what about prison fic it is that I dislike so much, maybe the thought that something like that really could end up happening to Dean (well not on the show but I suppose in the 'future' after the end of the series) and it makes me sad.

I probably sound like a raving loon. ;)

For the most part I really dislike the whole 'running from the law' subplot going on. I'd rather it just be dropped entirely and let them just stick to doing what they do and getting away with it/operating way under the radar.

I agree with you that the running from the law subplot could go totally pear-shaped (kind of like the drug prosecution one on House?) but in a way, I'd love to see a Sam-acting-as-their-lawyer episode or two, assuming they get off somehow at the end of it. In other words, I'm fine with arrests, brief stays in jail and trials. Just no prison.

{chuckle} I spent some time in HBO's Oz fandom and it's all prison boys (and gratuitous male nudity - heh, 90210's Luke Perry even did full frontal nudity while carrying a Bible), so I don't mind prison fics. However, with Supernatural, the Winchesters' existence has been *very* nomadic and that's why I wouldn't be a fan of seeing them locked up. Actually, this upcoming episode is one of the few I was spoiled on... Gah, must've been weeks ago because I haven't had as much time for reading LJ as of late (taxes and eight corporations = not fun). I'm *tired* and can't wait to crash in bed this weekend. I wasn't sure if I'd stay awake for Supernatural but I did manage and Hollywood Babylon was fun in a different way from Tall Tales. However, I think Hollywood Babylon didn't work out as well because it wasn't as focused on the Winchester brothers.

Actually, the episode reminded me of No Exit because I kept thinking 'where's Sam'? He was back to being 'errand boy'. Still, I enjoyed Hollywood Babylon because of the various 'inside jokes', and while the episode meant to parody, the nature of parodies is because they have a basis in truth, so it's like getting a peek into what goes on behind the cameras.

Nick watched it with me. His first Supernatural ever!

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D

[identity profile] heidi8.livejournal.com 2007-04-20 12:21 pm (UTC)(link)
And he liked it? Coooool.

[identity profile] wendywoowho.livejournal.com 2007-04-20 12:31 pm (UTC)(link)
He did, indeed! I think it was a good "Welcome to Supernatural" episode -- not too much long-standing arc, tons of funny meta, and the boys were uber charming.

[identity profile] heidi8.livejournal.com 2007-04-20 12:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Excellent!

Also, are you coming to PR? We're having a season finale viewing party on Thursday night....

[identity profile] wendywoowho.livejournal.com 2007-04-20 12:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Nope, alas. (BTW: BWHAHAHAH your icon!)

All my major travel this year is for Spain, Spain, Spain.

And did I mention, "Spain"?

[identity profile] heidi8.livejournal.com 2007-04-20 12:46 pm (UTC)(link)
...major travel...

So are you implying that Xanadu is *minor*?

: weeps

:P

[identity profile] wendywoowho.livejournal.com 2007-04-20 12:47 pm (UTC)(link)
No, I'm implying that travel TO Xanadu is minor. New York City? On a weekend? Easy as pie! Hardest part is deciding "train, bus, or car."

:smootchies:

Icon lurve, again.

[identity profile] wendywoowho.livejournal.com 2007-04-20 01:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Does it come with two hawt boys? Because, if so, sign me up.

[identity profile] storydivagirl.livejournal.com 2007-04-20 05:44 pm (UTC)(link)
How has he never seen Poltergeist? Did John restrict their tv viewing that much?</I. I tend to think that in Sam's quest for normal & to get away from the supernatural, he just avoided horror/scary movies as much as possible.

[identity profile] dramawench.livejournal.com 2007-04-20 08:56 pm (UTC)(link)
*sighs*
I'm going to have to start watching this show, aren't I? Everyone on my flist is obsessed.

This is Alyssa, btw. We squealed together over Doctor Who at Meg and Chris' wedding :D

All I can say is EEEEEEEEEEEEDEAN! He was the cutest of all cute things, and I am going to make Tim watch it ASAP, because EEEEEEEEE. *g*

And yes, I'm wringing my hands about next week as well -- Sam and Dean getting locked up is bad enouh, but if they get locked up and *separated*, which I bet they will, I am going to get an ulcer.
