(no subject)

Very rushed right now - I've been playing at being athletic!heidi today, in hopes of dropping a few stone before summer travels and chaos begin, so I'm just going to alight briefly with The Meme of the Day, gacked from pretty much everywhere:

How many times has someone on your friends list posted about something and you were really confused, but you didn't want to ask because you knew you SHOULD know? How many times have you felt guilty asking a close LJ friend a question that should be obvious?

Well, here's your chance.

If you've missed a few things, missed an entry and are confused, ask me any thing. Even something EXTREMELY basic, like where I live! I'm not allowed to get even slightly irritated at any of the questions - we've all missed things before.

ETA: I see I've been friended by a bunch of people in the last two or three months - I don't think I've checked Joule since January! - I'm happy to friend you back if you comment in my LJ. I used to friend everyone, and I would still love to be able to do so, but I am really close to my maximum number right now, so I've had to add at a slower pace than I once did. I really wish LJ would allow, say, 100 more than they do right now - I mean, is that *so* much harder than adding more lovely icon space? Really.

Oh my god, how did that happen? Harry was just born the other day...

*L* that was gonna be my question. I think it was Jon that I kept missing.

I need a notebook to keep track of all the mom's and their kids on my F'list. It keeps growing 0.o

Where do you live? [Until today I figured NYC, but that mention of Santa Monica has now cast that into doubt.]

[identity profile] heidi8.livejournal.com 2006-04-25 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I actually live in Miami, Florida - I lived in NYC from 1995 - 1998 (well, technically, my apartment didn't sell until 1999), and for the summer of 1989 too, and I was in Philly for college, and DC for law school (and a summer in London). I was a nomad for about 11 years, then came back home, metaphorically, and now literally.

LA is in July - my sister lives out there so last year, and again this year, we go out west for the summer, which is also good because my inlaws are in san diego.

Here's something I've always wondered about: what did you major in while at UPenn? :)

[identity profile] heidi8.livejournal.com 2006-04-26 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
History & communications with minors in English and AmCiv. My history focus was British history from 1066 to 1990

What kind of attorney are you (and what does that mean)?

[identity profile] heidi8.livejournal.com 2007-09-09 05:58 pm (UTC)(link)
OMG how did I never answer this?

I suck.

I am an intellectual property & internet attorney, with focuses on trademark law and privacy policies/terms of use. I also do some real estate work, which I don't enjoy but which has to be done so...

[identity profile] sevensickles.livejournal.com 2007-09-09 06:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow, that was a really long time ago. I had completely forgotten about this.

Ever wish you didn't get involved in FictionAlley?

[identity profile] heidi8.livejournal.com 2007-09-09 05:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh, I can't believe I never answered this!

Yes, when the server crashes and I can't do anything about it until people with access to the server can fix it. It drives me crazy.

I'll bite. If you had the power to go back and change any one thing about the HP fandom (not the books), what would it be and why?

[identity profile] heidi8.livejournal.com 2007-09-10 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
Ooooh, tough one. Seriously, I've been thinking about it for hours and I don't have a good answer. Personally, part of me would like to say that I wish I hadn't taken time off from fandom in May/June of 03 because in ignoring fandom issues to move and have a baby I paid no attention to some things (some of which is publicly known from bad penny, and some of which concerns hpfgu that has never been public and which I don't feel comfortable makingpublic after all this time especially as people later regretted what they said and did that spring) that I absolutely should have paid attention to that related to fictionalley *and* things would have been different and hopefully less disasterous to various friendships and emotions and list policies on hpfgu's mod list, but given that I was moving and having a baby, there's no way I could have done otherwise - I paid as much attention to things as I physically *could* in those months, and Jon + Home > Fandom, so it's not that. I'd rather have Jon than anything!

I wish Emerson had used some word other than "delusional", and I wish LJ hadn't been so batshit just after the release of DH this summer because I think those two things negatively impacted what had been and what was looking to be the vibrant discussion by many fandomers of the last two books. So maybe it's that?

I also *really* wish we'd never structured FA with four sub-houses as it's made for a messier maintenance in the last six years, for no really good reason. Bleh.

[identity profile] in-the-blue.livejournal.com 2007-09-10 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
I think those are all good answers. I know it doesn't seem like it, but there are a huge number of HP fans who don't pay attention to bad penny and the stuff from HPFGU and all that. You know how they say all publicity is good publicity? I'm not so sure about that one.

Just so you know, if I could change one thing from the fandom with a wave of my lovely wand, I'd take all the wangst out of it. It's annoying.

How do you manage to balance working, running a website, and being a full time mom?

[identity profile] mijan.livejournal.com 2007-09-09 09:01 pm (UTC)(link)
If you could go back and revisit one day in your life, what day would that be? (How old were you, and what were you doing? Why that day?)

As a Disney guru, have you ever been to Disneyland? (Obviously Disneyworld lots of times.) If so, have you ever been to Club 33?

[identity profile] marauderthesn.livejournal.com 2007-09-10 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
What's Four Points Alley on FAP and why has it never been used?

[identity profile] marauderthesn.livejournal.com 2007-09-10 09:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, another one: did you used to be with The Leaky Cauldron, or do I have that wrong? If so, why did you leave?

[identity profile] snapefantasy.livejournal.com 2007-09-10 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow, I can't believe I didn't ask something.
I've always liked this question (s)...

If you could bring back 1 famous person to spend the day with, who would it be and what would you do with them?

If you could bring back 1 family member to spend the day with, who would it be..and what would you do with them?
