More movie news...

This time, from All Ears, the Disney World traveler's newsletter:
Pirates of the Caribbean in the Magic Kingdom will close March 1, 2006, for a rehab that will see the addition of new characters and features from the popular film, "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl." The attraction will feature the addition of buccaneers Captain Jack Sparrow and his nemesis Barbossa, who will add a twist to the attraction's old storyline as they race to be the first to claim a cache of plundered treasure. The attraction will reopen on July 1, just in time for the July 7 debut of the new movie, "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest." Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyland Resort in California will also close in March and will reopen on June 24.

Awwww. Well, at least it'll be back later on... but I always go on that ride when I go to Disneyland. It never has a long line.

Hmm. I must say that I object to Disney adding so much of their current media to rides and attractions. What's wrong with the classics??

I heard about that yesterday and am still depressed. Part of the fun of thee PotC movie is recognizing the nods to the original ride, which is one of the best at Disneyland (not so much the Magic Kingdom version, though). Sigh!

Oh no! I'm a Disney purist and hate it when they change the originals. I still refuse to go to the "new" Tiki Room at WDW.

I'm glad we saw the original at least one more time when we were there in December.

Hmm... I've been to both versions and am not liking the proposed change. I want my random, nameless nanny-chasing, mayor dunking pirates too!

*channels chaos theory*

Will the pirates eat the tourists?

I can't believe it, but it's been TEN YEARS since I've been to Disneyland, and I haven't been to Disney World since the opening of Epcot Center. God, I feel old!

As much as I understand that it is a for a good cause, for what cause is there more noble than Jack Sparrow, I am cross about the closure.

Mark and I went to EuroDisney last May and discovered that Pirates of the Caribbean had closed the day before we arrived. We were so cross that we decided to go to Florida, where they wouldn't do anything quite so ridiculous. Plus, since we were going at the beginning of a busy time (just before easter) we figured there would be a minimal chance of anything big like PotC being closed. PAH!

Fucking Disney. It closes on March the 1st. We arrive on the 24th. >:O >:O >:O :((((((((((((((
