From CNN.com - 'Heidi Chronicles' playwright dead at 55.

Wendy Wasserstein is dead; she died of lymphoma and left behind a daughter the same age as my oldest son.
You may know her as the prize-winning author of The Heidi Chronicles, which I saw in the summer of 1989, my first summer on my own in New York City. Of course I had to see it: my name was in it, and I always thought it was more an insight to my mother's generation than anything that resonated in my life. A bit of history, not sociology. But it was good and she was good, and I'm sad for her family.

Closer to home, two more people on my flist are dealing with loss of loved ones tonight. May peace be with all of you.

thanks for the link -- I forwarded it to my mom, as we had heard Wendy present at my local Jewish Book Festival a few years ago; we both thought that Wendy was amazing...

I heard that on 'Fresh Air' on the way home; very sad, especially for/about her daughter.

(I also heard that Bill Nelson is the Repugnican's new hallway runner along with their other azure carpetry, but that's a whole different thing.)

I was completely shocked when I heard this on NPR last night, I kept thinking, isn't she young? doesn't she have a kid?

My college did The Heidi Chronicles during my time there and I remember the lead actor kept mispronouncing "Heidelah", which annoyed my Jewish roommate Eva no end.
