So, who's going to the concerts? I'm planning on trekking up to Orlando, myself...

I'll be at U of M Ann Arbor on October 3rd, so chances are I'll be forced to go to the Dixie Chicks/James Taylor concert. I have some rabid democrat friends going to college with me, so...yeah.

James Taylor does an amazing show - I haven't seen him in a few years, but his concerts are grand. You *will* enjoy it as long as you don't actually wear pro-Bush merchandise. Or, for that matter, Ralph-stuff.

[identity profile] lanamariah.livejournal.com 2004-08-04 11:52 am (UTC)(link)
I'll be wearing red though. *grin*

And I'll probably end up booing the Dixie Chicks. They're too liberal and outspoken for me to even remotely enjoy their music anymore. It takes a lot to ruin good bands like that for me.

*cries* Bruce Springsteen and R.E.M. are going to be in Philly?!

I wish I had obsessive liberal friends or family.

Signing off, V.M. Bell

Come back to my LJ. Read the next post.

Go with fandomers!

HOPEFULLY, I'll be able to go to the Philly concert (The Boss & REM on the same bill? Heck, yeah!), but it depends on what the ticket prices turn out to be.

[identity profile] sternel.livejournal.com 2004-08-04 10:59 am (UTC)(link)
Woe! nothing is close enough to NY to make it.

I would give my left arm to attend Dixie/JT. ::sigh:: I know NY is hardly battleground (other than the end of the month ::grumble::) but we'd be more than happy to shell out for this.

I had a Kerry campaign worker ask me where I got my 'Republicans for Voldemort' shirt on Saturday. I'm waiting to see them show up on TV.

[identity profile] heidi8.livejournal.com 2004-08-04 11:01 am (UTC)(link)
Go to Philly! It's maybe 2 hours by car!

[identity profile] sternel.livejournal.com 2004-08-04 11:40 am (UTC)(link)
wait, Philly?

::plots trip by NJT/SEPTA::

i'm carless. public transport is my friend.

::goes to look up ticket prices::

Bruce in Cleveland?...

Crap.

And why isn't anyone coming to Chicago?

[identity profile] herlifeisbroken.livejournal.com 2004-08-04 11:24 am (UTC)(link)
Illinois is not a swing state. But Cleveland's close!

[identity profile] shelaghc.livejournal.com 2004-08-04 11:55 am (UTC)(link)
Cleveland's about six hours away. Wisconsin might be closer, but I'd rather see Brucie.....

I'm just not sure if I can afford it.

OMG! DAVE MATTHEWS! GAINESVILLE!

And it's near my birthday! :-? I can't remember how far from B'ham to G'ville though.

That's awesome Heidi. Thanks for the link!

We are going to fly to see Bruce/REM/John Fogerty somewhere. Possibly Cleveland or Philly. Is the Orlando date indoors or out?

We live in a solidly red state. Bruce isn't coming close to us, though we may drive to see Jackson Browne/Bonnie Raitt/Keb Mo in Kansas City.

[identity profile] ashesofautumn.livejournal.com 2004-08-04 11:46 am (UTC)(link)
Might go to Philidelphia or Pittsburgh. Pity there's nothing in New York or New Jersey.

[identity profile] viola-dreamwalk.livejournal.com 2004-08-04 11:55 am (UTC)(link)
Pearl Jam! Yes! Where's the West Coast love, though? Oregon is a battleground state. Come on, guys! ^_-

[identity profile] ladylaw7.livejournal.com 2004-08-04 12:14 pm (UTC)(link)
This is about the only thing that would make me wish Massachusetts was a swing state!!

[identity profile] sugarjet03.livejournal.com 2004-08-04 12:17 pm (UTC)(link)
OMG, there is actually one in Asheville. During Fall Break. Nothing ever comes here . . .

[identity profile] sugarjet03.livejournal.com 2004-08-04 12:19 pm (UTC)(link)
No, it's actually the week before Fall Break. But still!

[identity profile] annearchy.livejournal.com 2004-08-04 12:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmmm on 10/5 I could go to see Dave Matthews Band/Jurassic 5(?)/My Morning Jacket in Madison, OR John Mellencamp/Kenny "Babyface" Edmonds(?) in Milwaukee. I'm sure the DMB show will be thronged and I'd maybe rather see Mellencamp, but it's a lot longer drive. Any idea how much these shows cost?? Maybe I could ask Mr. U to get us tickets as our anniversary present (anniversary is 9/20) :)

[identity profile] msbhaven.livejournal.com 2004-08-04 01:14 pm (UTC)(link)
heh... i wish. 'jurassic 5' and 'dixie chicks' should share a bill and come to sacramento. ooh 'jurassic 5,' 'dixie chicks,' 'maroon 5,' 'black eyed peas,' and 'the roots.'

i would buy tickets and remain homeless for an extra month.

[identity profile] airemay.livejournal.com 2004-08-04 01:17 pm (UTC)(link)
There are none close to me yet. *cries*

[identity profile] cathboblet.livejournal.com 2004-08-04 03:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Iowa City! I'm so happy I'll get to see James Taylor -- I've never seen him, and his music makes me ridiculously happy. And the Dixie Chicks are incredible live. Ahhh, the joy of being in a swing state and a college town . . .

Thanks for the link to the schedules!
