In 36 hours...

I will own a minivan.

To prevent utter patheticness, I will be getting xm installed in december. Yay, all 80s-alt all the time.

I've owned a minivan for years. And I don't have any kids.

Talk to the hand, baby! *holds up hand*

Of course, I have my iPod, not XM.

[identity profile] sff-corgi.livejournal.com 2003-11-21 06:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Talk to the paw, too. Hmph. I just traded in my 2nd Voyager for a Vibe just to try to minimise the money impact.

I schlep a LOT of stuff. And dogs.

Harry doesn't play soccer, does he?

[identity profile] heidi8.livejournal.com 2003-11-21 05:48 am (UTC)(link)
Why yes, he does.

Meeble.

[identity profile] saucy-wench.livejournal.com 2003-11-21 05:49 am (UTC)(link)
That is just sad.

You're so lucky I love your ass, or I'd be making soccer mom jokes.

Off to school, then mommy and me class! Jamie has swimming today.

We're sad, aren't we?

Does your soccermobile have a DVD player?

[identity profile] heidi8.livejournal.com 2003-11-22 06:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes. And infra-red headsets. So weird.

Actually, what I loff is that it has LATCH so putting Jon's carseat in took all of three minutes. W00t.

[identity profile] saucy-wench.livejournal.com 2003-11-22 07:44 pm (UTC)(link)
infrared headsets?! What the heck is that?

[identity profile] heidi8.livejournal.com 2003-11-22 07:46 pm (UTC)(link)
They're wireless headsets. Vaguely funky.

[identity profile] saucy-wench.livejournal.com 2003-11-22 07:47 pm (UTC)(link)
very cool.

*pets the soccer mom*

XM Radio! YAY! We never did get to chat about it, but I did make a post right after I got it installed with a whole bunch of links and general squeeing.

[identity profile] heidi8.livejournal.com 2003-11-22 06:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, I remember, which is one of the reasons I think we're going for that instead of Sirius, although on one level, I would love to be able to look up and see SIRIUS in the car at any given moment.

:)) Yes, as an HP fan I smiled when I saw that was my alternative. Of course my brother thought I was nuts.

Am jealous ... we're still in the throes of looking. I've gotta get my old one fixed up enough to trade in, bah...don't have time.....ARGH.

You will love your van, and it doesn't mean you are old or uncool (no matter what Randy says ... he's trying to squish us all into something sportier, I can't get past the "he's touching me" whines)

It says you are smart and sensible enough not to fall for the gigundo SUV trend. :)

[identity profile] heidi8.livejournal.com 2003-11-22 06:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I would actually love a massive SUV, but I need an easy-to-get-into third row, which wouldn't require climbing over seats, and afaik, that means a minivan. I am happy enough with it, though. A blue honda - haha - that's what I drove in law school - but this is more than a little larger!

[identity profile] dejaspirit.livejournal.com 2003-11-21 06:19 am (UTC)(link)
NOOOO!!!

*resists*

Never! Never I tell you!!!

[identity profile] heidi8.livejournal.com 2003-11-21 11:21 am (UTC)(link)
Talk to me when you have 2 kids, babe.

[identity profile] kokopoko.livejournal.com 2003-11-21 07:29 am (UTC)(link)
A minivan? That is quite sad. Upgrade to a Hummer. But the XM is cool! All 80s! I love the 80s. Sixteen Candles is still one of my favorite movies.

[identity profile] saucy-wench.livejournal.com 2003-11-21 12:50 pm (UTC)(link)
AHahahaha hummer.

She said hummer.

I swear to God, I'm in about 3rd grade today.

[identity profile] eibbil-libbie.livejournal.com 2003-11-21 07:30 am (UTC)(link)
*welcomes to club*

Twas bound to happen, wasn't it?

Am utterly jealous of the XM bit, tho.

[identity profile] hedwig-snowy.livejournal.com 2003-11-21 08:17 am (UTC)(link)
XM eh? OMG! All Duran Duran....ALL THE TIME!!!

[identity profile] heidi8.livejournal.com 2003-11-22 06:56 pm (UTC)(link)
...although I would like the occasional Style Council or Clash tune...

Upon the birth of the third child,

[identity profile] powersh20works.livejournal.com 2003-11-21 08:40 am (UTC)(link)
my brother cried the day he had to buy his. I tried to tell him that it doesn't *look* all that different from his monster SUV. Apparently, he thinks it does.

Personally, my first car was a minivan, in which I learned to drive, and which I drove for seven years until she died. She came in handy for theatre usage.q

[identity profile] bekkio.livejournal.com 2003-11-21 08:44 am (UTC)(link)
Sadly enough, I miss my minivan, which was traded last year for a SUV. Owning a mini van is not the end of the world, think of it as an opportunity to cram as many people in there as possible.

[identity profile] leiabelle.livejournal.com 2003-11-21 11:25 am (UTC)(link)
I think minivans are a good thing. *averts eyes*

No really! We had one for my entire childhood... and my parents sold it and bought a Neon right before I learned to drive. Boy was I bummed -- I was looking forward to being able to drive all my friends around. I guess my parents probably thought of that, heh.

Also, yay 80s! :D

[identity profile] debellatrix.livejournal.com 2003-11-21 12:32 pm (UTC)(link)
There are a few people in this world that DON'T need a car that boosts their coolness factor. You my dear, are one of them. Go ahead, tell me you're just like other soccer moms, I won't believe it.

[identity profile] heidi8.livejournal.com 2003-11-21 05:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Sniff. You just cheered me up to no end. Thanks, dearie.
