Are you still watching Supernatural?

I almost stopped at some point in S7 - but I watched them all by the time the season ended, and loved Season Eight in so many ways, and for so many reasons.

In other words, Supernatural, I'm still into you.

I should get over all the butterflies, but I'm into you.

So since a song summed it up so well, I had to put it into fanvid form.

Title: Still Into You
Song By: Paramore
Rating: PG
Genre: Gen, Show-love
Characters: Oh, everyone! Not literally, and it's mostly Sam and Dean, but there's Bobby and Castiel and John, Henry and Mary Winchester, Charlie, Kevin, Andy, Ash, Jo, Ellen, Meg, Ruby, Death, some Leviathans, a number of demons and God (or Chuck). Play spot-the-episode!
Warnings: There's under one second of images from the teaser that's been released for S9. Blink and you'll miss it. Blink at 1.22 for about two seconds if you want to miss it. If you blink you won't be dead, SuperWhoLock people. I promise.Watch it here. )

And technically, it's now the fourth in my series of Winchesters/Liquor fanvids, so it's clearly a theme I enjoy. I hope you like it!

Title: Dean, You're Having My Baby.

Song: Having My Baby as performed by Cory Monteith in S1 of Glee. No connection with his role in Wendigo is intended.

Summary: Castiel's touch is more powerful than Dean knows - and he's not using the right kind of protection when dealing with an angel. Castiel tells Dean his feelings about this unexpected situation, in song.

Ship: Dean/Castiel! Srsly!

Purpose of this Vid: Created for [personal profile] missyjack as she won me in a 2010 auction. It took this long for Show to film and broadcast the perfect clips. Thank you, Misha and Jensen for being you.

Warnings/Rating: Well, that kids book Mr Seahorse was a G-rated thing, so the presence of mpreg itself doesn't raise the rating here. So, PG-13 for violence and self-harm.

Download the vid via Megaupload here or watch it on YouTube here or behind the cut. )

Title: Always Keep an Edge on Your Knife
Song by: The Corb Lund Band
Rating: PG-13. Gen.
Spoilers for all episodes of Supernatural through 4.14. Yes, there is actually at least one clip from every single episode of SPN in this vid.
Summary: A few words of advice from the Winchesters - and the Corb Lund Band. Basically, a good sharp edge is a man's best hedge against the vague uncertainties of life.
Moderate amount of crack - just the right quantity for a MOnday.
Created for [livejournal.com profile] la_perkins & friends as part of Sweet Charity (Fall, 2008).

Note: This video was ridiculously fun to edit. From the first time I heard the song, courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] la_perkins, I knew it would be adorably Winchestery, but it wasn't until I started working on it that I knew that it had to have clips from every single episode of SPN to date. But culling about 60 hours of Show into a three minute video was a bizarre and fascinating challenge, because it meant that sometimes I could pull the essence of a moment of Show, and other times the moment I was taking from a certain episode was almost at random - there's just over one second of Impala from S1 around the two-minute marker and I think I want to give a prize to the person who's the first to figure out which episode it comes from.

Hmmmm....

I have a spare copy of the S2 Companion book - and I'll get it signed by the person of the winner's choice at Eyecon this month. So yeah - first person to figure out which S1 episode the one-second clip of the Impala comes from wins it. :D I am crossposting this, so only answers in comments on my [livejournal.com profile] pear_vodka livejournal count.

Thanks so much to [livejournal.com profile] roguebitch, [livejournal.com profile] deirdre_c, [livejournal.com profile] sabaceanbabe and [livejournal.com profile] la_perkins herself for insightful beta comments and squee!

As it's now December 24 in parts of the world, here's an encore posting of the two Christmas vids I made last year. I wish I'd had time to do another one this year but I've been so swamped the last two months that I haven't been able to finish a single vid, and winter break this year isn't exactly break-filled for me.

Since I'm Jewish, I don't really have "traditional" favorite Christmas songs, but I absolutely adore "All I Want for Christmas" - the Mariah original, the Olivia Olsen version from Love, Actually and the vaguely recent My Chemical Romance version, which is the one I used in both vids last year.

All I Want for Christmas - Supernatural version )

All I Want for Christmas - Harry Poter version, featuring Lord Voldemort )

Off to finish gift wrapping, and possibly going to brave Costco today, if they've re-opened since the fire that closed them on the 19th, because we are in need of rugelah, and theirs is the best in the world. Or at least, the best in Florida. Rockland County Bakery in NY is probably the best in the world.

Then, it's time to make the sweet potato pancakes (if I can find the only recipe that works) for family get-togethers tomorrow and Thursday. Oooooh, I love it when Chanukah and Christmas overlap!

Title: Titanic Days (aka My Heart Will Go On: The Re-Soundtracking)
Song by: Screaming Jets (covering Celine Dion's My Heart Will Go On)
Rating: PG-15

Song by: Neil & Tim Finn (Crowded House, Split Enz)

One thing I've picked up in vidding over the last year or so is that inspiration comes from the oddest places. I'd been sorting through my itunes, looking for songs about doom and tragedy and loss, and I remembered to songs that have extremely perky, fun tunes - but which are angsty in their lyrical cores. One is "Hell" from the Squirrel Nut Zippers, and the other is "Intermission" from the Scissor Sisters. It's disarming and charming, because you spend most of the song humming along with the catchiness and then, it just hits you, full throttle in the stomach.

So, I vidded to it.

Title: There'll Always Be Closing Night

Song:
Intermission

Artist:
Scissor Sisters

Rating:
PG-13 for violence

Characters:
Winchesters and demons, mostly

Just what every fangirl needs, new from Virgin Mobile: the Samsung SLASH mobile phone

What's on your SLASH phone?

And now, for your regularly scheduled programming, two recs:
[livejournal.com profile] ash48's Changing Channels, which shifts the prism of other shows onto SPN - I have a particular love for the "Friends" portion.

[livejournal.com profile] giandujakiss's Hourglass (set to the Squeeze song from 1988) which incorporates, does meta for and loves on SPN, X-Files, Xena, Buffy, Medium, Early Edition, Lois & Clark, Stargate SG-1, Day Break, ST: TNG and more. This is what a multifandom vid should be like - funny, gorgeous, smart and savvy.
heidi: (Vidding)
I know there's been an influx of vid posting here recently - but it's completely eaten my brain the way it did back in college when I worked in the school tv station and edited vids for things like Spring Fling and various college performing arts groups on 3/4 inch tape and made credits on an Amiga.

And you know what happens when something eats your brain?

It turns into crack.

Over the weekend, [livejournal.com profile] missyjack posted:
Warning - Season Three Finale Spoiler:

Unnamed sources close to Eric Kripke have revealed that the opening song montage finale for the truncated Season Three will not feature "Carry On Wayward Son", as in the previous two seasons. Instead the montage will be set to "Livin' la Vida Loca" by Ricky Martin.

It was tagged "this is a joke" (ALAS!) and [livejournal.com profile] cathybites wondered:
Is it wrong that I really really REALLY kind of want that?

I asked if that was a vid request, Cathy said yes, especially for the Shrek version, Missy concurred and [livejournal.com profile] juice817 gave me the song, which I unfortunately did not already own.

And I put together this. Total crack, and a counterpoint for my recent angstvidding.

Title: Livin' la Vida Loca!

Song Originally From: Shrek II

Fandom: Supernatural

Rating: PG-13 for blood and language

Summary: Not actually a leaked draft of the Supernatural Season Three finale's intro. Nope, definitely not!

Spoilers: Through Season 3, Episode 12 (Please do not spoil me for anything in unaired episodes! Thanks!)

Genre: Crack. SO MUCH CRACK. And lip-synching!

( + cracky crack from cracktopia! )

You can also download it from Megaupload in .wmv format or go directly to the YouTube page.

Approx 65 MB and just under four minutes long. Still crack!

I am one of the Guest Reccers for [livejournal.com profile] spnroundtable this month, and I just posted my first list of recs here - crossovers ahoy! (Big surprise there, right?) Read, comment, and if you have a favorite crossover that's set in an AU to SPN, let me know about it!

I also have a Jensen Ackles Birthday Vid, sort of. It's another in my Schoolhouse Rock series - the song I used this time is Body Machine, and most of the clips were chosen for prettiness.

Title: The High Powered, Revved Up Body Machine

Song originally from: Schoolhouse Rock

Fandom: Supernatural

Rating: PG

Summary: Dean Winchester would like to tell you about The Body Machine, with some help from his brother, Sam, and his clone, Alec. Created for Jensen Ackles' 30th birthday. Gen - sort of a picspam in vid form.

Spoilers: Visual spoilers for Dark Angel S2 and Supernatural S1, S2 and S3 through 3.12.

Genre: Parody, prettiness

Hope you like it! Reviews are like candied apples - shiny, bright and delicious!

( + Follow the fake cut-tag to see a vid where ninety five per cent of the images were chosen specifically because they contain prettiness! )

Stay tuned through the credits!

And check out this clever challenge on Pop Goes the Library - you can write a drabble involving a library and containing the word "birthday" and the one that she likes best gets their choice of books: A galley of Confessions of a Serial Kisser by Wendelin Van Draanen, a paperback of Klepto by Jenny Pollack, a paperback of The Squad: Killer Spirit by Jennifer Lynn Barnes, or a galley of The Adoration of Jenna Fox by Mary Pearson.

Nifty!
